PO "mods" on my '78. What's correct?

Hi all,

I have some questionable work on my trailer done by the previous owner. I'm hoping you can set me straight.

1. The regulator bracket is currently a block of wood. What's the correct bracket?

2. Does this setup look right? The pole seems very flimsy with only a screw/nut holding it at the bottom.

Looks like a piece of wood screwed to the tank bracket, my guess to mount a regulator on.

In addition to the center bolt and top bracket, there could be pins at the bottom of the tanks.

The regulator originally mounted on a cast aluminum extension of the part that holds the tanks down in your photo. Apparently it is broken off and the PO put an L shelf bracket and wood piece to replace it (as best I can see from the photo).

I am not sure that the original cast aluminum tank parts are still available, so you may have to make a better solution than the wood part, maybe out of a fabricated aluminum piece which fits under the hold down bracket and attaches to it in some way. Of course if you can locate the original part, it would be a better solution.
