New Pig Tails

Kind of a stupid question . . .
Is there supposed to be a rubber washer or gasket inside the "cup"?
When it is screwed onto the tank and I open the valve, I smell gas.
It's not coming from the other end . . . I can smell it directly at the tank connection (and I've tested it at the other end).
(these are brand new)

I don't have access to mine, but I think there is supposed to be an O ring near the opening in the cone. If there is a shallow groove there, it's missing. Hard to tell from picture.

Looked at mine. The o-ring is in the tank valve.

I went out and looked, and there is a pressed in rubber ring in the Tank's Valve.

And I'm guessing they are "weathered" and a little dried out . . . actually I'm not guessing at all - they are.

And this is probably something only a "tank certifying person" can address . . . (?).

If they are full service where you get your tanks refilled should be able to replace the o-ring for you if you are unable to do it yourself.

Having a hard time finding the actual "part".
Or anyone that sells it.
So I assumed it wasn't something you can "swap out" easily.
I guess I should go un-fasten the tanks and put them on the work bench so I can inspect closer / better.

I just called my local Ace Hardware. I ask if they had the O-rings used in the propane tank OPD valve. Answer, yes. 96 cents for a package of 6.
Called Blossom Gas my local best price refill, answer, yes. No cost.
