Mopeka LPG Tank Check

Has anyone used this system? If it works as advertised it would be useful to determine how much propane is in your tanks, something I'm always concerned about.

The sensor apparently attaches to the gas cylinder with magnets. Is that a cause for concern?

Any feedback?

Thanks!

I received mine yesterday. Easy install and setup after replacing a dead battery in one of the senders. They use common 2032 batteries. Seems accurate. I have both my IPhone and IPad set up as receivers. Too soon to tell what long term reliability will be.

Ditto here. I am going to make some spacers out of wood to replace the rubber ones that come with the oackage. They don't stay on, and I expect they will quickly fail, so I am not waiting for that to happen.

I am thinking of ordering the Mopeka tank monitor but I've heard some complaints about the feet that are supplied to hold the tank higher to provide clearance for the sensor (I'm assuming that's the purpose of the feet).

Just curious as to the best solution to this problem. Also any other reservations/concerns about this product before I place an order.

Thanks!

I have them installed and really like them. At first I used a hot glue gun to install the feet but after taking the tanks off I ended up replacing them and used a cut up mouse pad instead.

So far so good. My tanks have not been removed since I installed the monitoring system.

Hi... I understand that the mobile app and receiver defaults to 20lb tanks and you have to change to either a 30 or 40 lb tank. I didn't see any changing of the default in the video. Was the default changed to 30lb tanks?

Yes, there is an option in the setup to change them to 30# tanks. I took a piece of 1/4” plywood and cut it to fit the base of the tank stand. I then made cutouts in the plywood to accommodate the sensors. Works great. I also took a magic marker and outlined on the tank bottom the placement and orientation for the sensor. I take them off for refilling and then back on.

It's only a concern if you happen to have aluminum tanks. Has anyone used the kit with aluminum tanks? How have you attached the sensors?

Thanks,
Larry

I tried two sets that I got from CW. From each set, one did not work, or was not reliable. I took them back as I did not have confidence in them. In their defense, it looked as if they had been returned previously, so they may have just been defective.

Did you contact the manufacturer and discuss your issue with them? I recently had a one sender that started eating batteries and displaying funky readings. I called the company and they sent me a new sender in 3 days.

Yes, we just got the Mopeka Sensors and we installed them with our aluminum tanks.

Mr. InsideOut who actually did the installation says, "I used neoprene foam ‘shims’ for a motorcycle battery box that come when you buy a battery. They have peel & stick on one side. The tank ‘tray’ was open in the middle which would allow the sensor to fall through so I had to put a "false bottom" in the tray - it's upside-down aluminum checker plate so it is slightly raised & water will still drain out. There is still plenty of "grip" in the tray - it didn't raise it too much. Here are some pictures that show how I solved the problem"

Seems to be working great!
