LP Tanks

Anyone know what size LP tanks would have come new on a 78 Excella TT? The ones that came on the AS when I bought it are Worthington (DOT 4E240) - 33.5lb??? I'm about to replace them and trying to figure out what size to go with. The owners manual talks about 28lb tanks.

Most places would refer to them as 30 LB tanks. The ones you described sound like the current equal to OEM.

Would you recommend going with 30lb new? Capacity isn't really an issue for me since I only plan to use the trailer 4-5 days at a time. Seems most of the threads I read people are talking 40 lb.

We replaced our steel ones with the Alumimum 30 pounders when we ful timed. The 30 pounders are easy to handle full and offer a great amount of gas for the long weekend or cold snap. The autoswitch over device assure you of not running out over night and we never had an issue with lack of capacity.

short answer 30 lbs is my suggestion!

We did when we had the trailer, now we have a motor home and 1 BIG tank. The switchover device seemed to work well and gave us few problems.

There is an interesting product evaluation in this months Trailer Life (9/02) about a remote changeover indicator from Marshall gas controls, a light you hookup to the tanks and run in the trailer tells you when to switch bottles. Runs on 2 aa batteries, I think it would be a good system to have as the new opd's have no sight gauges.
