Help me find a thermostat for a 1963 Airstream

I have spent 10 months rebuilding my 1963 Ambassador Airstream in preparation for my brother's visit in a couple of weeks. I am approaching the finish line; but I just learned I need a new thermostat assembly for my water heater. The propane won't shut off. Any ideas for a source for the part??? I would sincerely appreciate some help with this one.
THANKS

uh oh. I think you're better off with a new water heater, from my own experience trying to fix old appliances.

You should be able to get parts from any RV dealer. Bowen is an Atwood brand. This is one source: Atwood Gas Control Valve/Thermostat 48-5042 [91602] - $128.95 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

If it were me, I would replace the whole unit for a few hundred more.

Try and fill it and see what you get out of it. If it's totally gross, it won't be worth the money trying to fix it and it looks old (I speak from experience, trying to fix a '64 Bowen) and old gas appliances can be scary.
