HELP! Can't turn off propane alarm!!

Our propane alarm has gone off, RV is open, propane is off, no odor detected. There were some fabric softener sheets nearby.

Can't get the alarm to stop nor find instructions for this. All the fuses have been removed and returned, nothing changes.

We are in a fairground in AR, no one nearby to help.

Beeping shrilly!

HELP!!

As I understand it, the alarm is wired directly to the battery. I have reset mine by holding down the button for about 10 seconds.

Press the button on the monitor for a few seconds and the light should go green again. If not then you may still have gas in the AS.

Doug started to take the sensor box apart to disconnect the wires, beeping stopped and light turned green.

It was been going off for about 15 minutes.

What is happening???

Thanks, guys.

We tried holding the button down 5-6 seconds, no change, didn't go to 10.

I don't think there is a propane leak. Could the fabric softener sheets have done this?

It is off, now, Doug is putting things back together.

My head hurts.

Bug spray, or virtually anything that comes out of an aerosol can, seems to set mine off.

Once it goes off it is triggered and continues to beep. It is reset by pressing hte button. Then retests the system set to "Sample" the air again. If no gas is present it is OK. If it is triggered agin then it detects gas and there is a problem. Then of course, it is a electronic system and could have failed.

No aerosol anything in here.

Oh, to have been in a campground. Help would have been here in seconds. We are the only ones here.

Mine has gone off when the exterior shower door fell open and across the exhaust. We could smell something different but it took a bit to figure that one out.

Also lighting the oven set our off. We need more practice with that.

Fabric sheets? in an interstate? You have a dryer in there?

Check that the exhaust on it and your heaters.

Oh, you're funny.

Of course there is no dryer in here, there is barely room for us and the dog!

I do keep a box of laundry things in the bathroom, right across from the front door where the sensor is. I had moved the box near the door area to clear the bathroom. Thus, wondering was it the dryer sheets.

We turned the propane off immediately, it kept beeping and wouldn't stop!

Hi from GA. . . Mine did the same thing and none of the metioned fixes helped. I removed unit and snipped 2 wires. When we got home I called MotherShip about replacement & they said 'yes' they had them & 'no' they wouldn't mail me one Called other RV part place and they sold & mailed me the exact one. Wires re-attached and all's well here! Hope yours stays quiet. (we never did figure out what set it off), Regards, Craig

Where's the link to the thousand uses for fabric sheets. You think somebody actually used one in a drier lately? Silly guy, must live in a very sheltered building.

Oh, moisture can set off sensors. Years ago I was mudlogging off shore in Utah. (Amoco, Parker Drlg rig on 1/4 acre of floating barges welded together on the north side of Great Salt Lake. Oil in every well.) Had H2S poison gas every well at about 140 feet when we were pushing drill collars through the old dead fish in the shallow mud. We maintained the poison gas detectors along with the hot wire chromatograph. About every day the detectors would go off, frequently when they weren't even drilling. Found a roughneck washing down the rig (and the detectors) with water....another story, I was driving into Salt Lake to get the wet H2S detector repaired before they spudded the next well, figured out with the limited time before spud I needed to go straight east over the railroad causeway instead of going north around Promontory Point, Thiokol rocket testing, Honeyville; risking running into a train coming west. Part of the stretch you are driving on the tracks itself. Got across the causeway to dry land, found a locked gate, dang! Miracle, somebody came along almost immediately and opened the gate....got the detector back to the rig for the poison gas on the next well, roughnecks washing down the rig again...

I once tried to clean some glue off the tile floor. I used Goo Gone or Goof Off.
OMG, the propane detector went nuts.
By law, you're not allowed to put an On/Off switch in the line, so you're limited to cutting the wires.
Seems lots of things can trigger a propane alarm.
