Question Finish on propane cylinders?

Anybody knows if the 30 LBs Worthington cylinders made in
1989 had some kind of finish on them, or are they bare aluminium ?

Finish on propane cylinders?

So far as I have been able to find out, the factory never placed any finish on the Worthington aluminum tanks. In fact, when I had my tanks polished at P & S Trailer service, the Ruths discouraged plasticoating the finished tanks as it would be so difficult to maintain the integrity of the surface as the tanks were removed and replaced to facilitate filling. So far, annual surface maintenance with MetAll has maintained the shine on my tanks - - followed by a coat of Walbernize.

The Worthington Aluminum cylinders, however, were painted to match the hitch on Argosys if my one-owner original Minuet is any indicator.

Thanks for the info,

Our 1990 trailer came with bottles which are grungier than the ones on our 2 older trailers. But, as they have the "auto switch", we want to use those.
Before we have the OPD installed, we thought about cleaning them a bit. No full polish and shine for us. They have the cover anyway, so who will see them? My way of thinking.... Mike wants them more pleasant to handle at least.

So we asume it's bare aluminium, Thanks.
