Cyber Monday Mopeka Propane Tank Monitor On Sale

After reading an endorsement from @Air2Dream, I checked the price on Mopeka propane monitor and it's on sale for Cyber Monday today 11/27/2023 for $49.86 ea. I got two.

Highly recommend. I bought 2 for the Airstream and one for my Blackstone. I also bought the silicone ring for each tank bottom too. Filled propane tanks the other day and guy filling my propane tank said when properly installed these are very accurate. That is my expierence..very accurate

Because I've run out of propane in the middle of the night a few times, IMHO, these are almost indispensable.

I also find them to be fairly accurate.

Do you guys use something to extend the bottom of the propane cover so that it is not hanging loose and wiggling? Or maybe adjust the crossbar somehow?

The center rod is threaded and adjustable for this reason. I did add the silicone ring to the bottom base ring of the tank to ensure the Mopeka sensor has plenty of room, which it does. I extended the center threaded rod to compensate and returned everything back to "tight". The center threaded rod is double nut fastened so loosening both and etendending rod up will give you additional clearance.

Is this the silicone ring? I see another add-on for the tank bottom as well.

Checking the price, it's still 29% off.

Good for you

They work pretty good. And if you have a Victron Cerbo with a touch screen you can display the Mopeka readings on the Touch Screen

Like others who have given excellent reviews of this product, I join, but with a caveat: don't waste money on the in-house panel, available as an extra expense add-on. It uses lights and is imprecise, whereas the app gives you a percentage readout of remaining propane. With that said, I can't recommend getting just the two sensors highly enough!

I don’t understand how people “run out” of propane in the middle of the night. I have two tanks with a switch-over regulator …like I suspect most do…. and when I start out a trip I see if the indicator is red or green on the tank in-use. When it turns red…indicating the tank in-use is empty…. I switch over to the other tank and have the empty one refilled at the next opportunity.

Are you guys not regularly checking this?

Why would you need Two…?? (other than to have a spare because you doubt their longevity?)

That's exactly what I do. It's right up there with checking air pressure before the trip and making sure the sewer hose is put away prior to leaving.

I think it's supposed to automatically switch over when the primary is empty, but I can see making the second tank the primary to get the red indicator when it runs out.

We only went through one tank this season, so I think the tank monitor might be overkill, but it's one less thing to check on.

When I bought mine it came with the inside panel. But I see the new kits have the tank rings. I like that better. Mine came with the clips.

The one that came with the Amazon deal just has the clips. I haven't gotten around to installing them yet. Here in Minnesota, it's supposed to be 40's this weekend so that might motivate me. Still $50 on Amazon Prime 12/13/2023.

I put a pair on my two LP tanks and have them reading on my Victron display. The one tank we have been using has been showing 100% even after 5 nights below 40.
I'll be pulling that tank to reweigh it with at LP scale I keep onboard. I've found it highly accurate for the 20 lb bottles we used to have and now with the 30lb tanks.

(Flame King Propane Tank Digital Scale for 5LB, 10LB, 20LB, 30LB, 40 LB Propane Tanks).

I had tried to get assistance from Mopeka but after telling me to call, I never got a response.

Not sure I will trust the Mopeka pucks only while boondocking since experience says we should have used at least 25% of the tank.
