Co2 Sensor Going Off

2008 25' Flying Cloud. Had her 2 years now. Put a new Kidde alarm in shortly after purchase. All was fine for several months. About 3 months ago it began chirping and alerting. Could not get it to stop, suspected the Kidde was faulty, replaced with a new one. All was well until today. Our son, who stores it for us on his property, went in to check for any roof leaks after our Tropical Storm experience and he said the Co2 alarm was at level 9.

Is 9 a concern worthy number?

Valves to propane tanks closed and stove off.

I had our son put new batteries in the Kidde and it started at zero. 2 hours later it was going off again and showing high CO (9). 3 beeps every 5 seconds.

Could this be from the black water tank maybe?

Opinions, please.

Thanks in advance.

"09" is actually an error code. Replacing the batteries doesn't shut off the error code. You have to press the Test/Reset button for at least 5 seconds as well.

If replacing the batteries AND resetting the unit doesn't clear it, the unit may be defective or at the end of its useful life. There are 3 Kidde models that don't have a 10-year guarantee: Models KN-COEG-3 (900-0113), KN-COPE-I (900-0232) and KN-COPP-3 (900-0099).

Many residential CO alarms have a limited temperature range. Make sure yours is suitable for use in your Airstream. It might be advisable to remove the battery when in storage with an undesirable temperature. Just put the battery somewhere you will see it and be sure to reinstall it when you use the trailer. Electronic equipment usually has a higher allowable temperature for storage and shipping.
