Atwood thermostat

How do i remove this thing from my water heater ? I have removed every screw i can get to but wont budge. Is it threaded in or what?
Also i have a '70 safari, anyone know what replacement thermostat i need to order?

Yes, it unscrews from the tank and it is very difficult to that. Mostly by the time you have that kind of problem, the entire tank is in need of replacement and you often will find that the cost will not be much more than the parts alone, so usually the entire tank is replaced. With a new tank for about $100 more you also can get an electronic ignition model, which adds a lot of convenience to the trailer. No more pilot to light.

The thermostat has seized.

If you try to remove it, you will destroy the tank in the process, then you will have a thermostat with no place to go.

Replacing the complete water heater is the only way to go.

Also, water heater just don't last 40 plus years.
