Atwood G6A-7E smelling gas.

Had a leak in the Bypass valve connector(s). Replaced valve with a new, different type - no leak anymore, but there is a distinct smell of propane in the sleeping area (bed id on top of waterheater). In the process of replacing the Bypass valve - had to take the unit out. Is there any reason why we have the gas smell in the sleeping area?

Considering that you said you removed the water heater to replace the valve, the likely culprit is a leaking gas fitting at the water heater.

Did you try to tighten it a bit more?

If that is not it you need to track down the leak, starting at the water heater. You can use soapy water but one of these is must have tool....
