Anyone have an old Therm'x propane space heater?

Just wondering if anyone might have the heater pictured below.

It's in our 1976 Sovereign and I think it's original, though not sure. It's located right near the main door, on the outer wall of the Magic Chef stove.

The knob is broken and the kids were messing with it, now I'm not sure which direction is "off". We're having some propane smell issues and trying to narrow it down, thought that maybe if someone else had this their knob might still be whole and could tell me which direction is off.

Please be very careful about using those unvented catalytic heaters which are many many years old. The catalytic mesh wears out/becomes defective, the unvented nature of the unit was never approved for use in RV's (but lots were sold and installed) and in general if you use them you are risking your life to an almost 40 year old device which was not very safe to begin with.

I don't know if your photo is sideways or not, but if the floor is on the bottom of the photo as shown, the unit was also mounted wrong to begin with, the knob should be on the bottom of the unit, not the side.

At very minimum, have a good, new, working carbon monoxide detector in your trailer when you use that heater.

My cousin, his wife, and 3 year old daughter were all killed in a tragic carbon monoxide event due to a defective furnace in their summer home. It was an insidious and horrible way to die. Don't take any chances please.

Thanks for the input, idroba.

I don't use the heater, and was specifically just looking to find out what "off" was. I ended up just capping the line to the heater altogether, so it's no longer an issue.

And we do have a CO detector installed. Sorry to hear about your cousin, that's horrible.
