2015 Flying Cloud 28 Twin Heat Pump/Furnace

Parked new FC in the driveway Friday fresh from the dealer. Previously had a 2007 Safari 25FB and two motorhomes since. Had the new trailer de-winterized, with the intent of loading out and going on a shake down cruise next week. So, I'm keeping the thermostat set at 55 degrees, since the outside temp here is dipping below freezing overnight. The HVAC controller is a Dometic, and, as with many of the trailer systems, comes with a generic owners manual, which covers many models without specifically explaining the one we have. I set both zones on the Heat Pump mode, and all weekend and this morning, the indoor temp in both zones was 55. This afternoon, zone 1 was 50 degrees, and the forward heat pump was in the "defrost" mode. Don't remember the system on our first AS, but with both motorhomes, when the outside temp got too cold for the heat pumps to work, the propane furnace automatically kicked in. My impression is that is what happened over the weekend, since the indoor temp stayed consistently at 55 whenever I spot checked. And, it seemed to me that the furnace was running when I checked this morning (outdoor temp 27 degrees). Our dealer told me this afternoon that the AS does not automatically kick in the furnace. So, I set the furnace to run overnight (furnace setting available in zone 2 only), and that is working fine. There also is an "Auto" mode setting. Would that shift between heat pump and furnace? Is there such a capability? Was I hallucinating this morning when I thought the furnace was running while Dometic controller was in "HP" mode? Not a big deal for a few days, since I want to run all systems anyhow. But, I sure would like to know for future operation. Appreciate any feedback.

just remember that the heat pumps will not heat the tanks and lines under the floor and don't do much below 40*.
