1970 Airstream Overlander Gas Question
Hi!
We have a 1970 Airstream Overlander that we bought 10 years ago and have kept in the in-laws front yard in San Jose, CA. We live in Australia, so its been our home when we are visiting. When we bought it, we had the gas appliances and lines checked and the regulator replaced.
Fast forward to now, and we are about to ship the Airstream to Australia so we can have more quality time with it ; )
We never used the gas appliances in the time we had it, and we removed the fridge and the furnace a few years ago because the fridge didn't work, and in its life before us the furnace had become a rat exterminator ; )
We do want to use gas when it comes down under though - and have bought a new cooktop and water heater to install.
I want to get a proper technician out to do that, and check the original gas lines (possibly replace) and make sure the furnace and fridge lines are properly capped off/removed.
That's a long story to get to my question - in Australia, I'd just call a gas fitter to do that work - the same techs who work on houses also do rvs/trailers. In the US - I have no idea. Mobile RV tech, or do you call the people who do gas work on houses and if so, what are they called ?
Sounds dumb I know, but after 10 years I know in some cases Australian's use different language to Americans and we all get confused.
Thanks!
