09 Airstream Sprinter Water Heater

water heater s leaking so in the next couple days I will need to pull from the outside and open the Styrofoam box where I think the leak is. Does anyone have a tip or two for this process? Fixable ? Brand? Size?

As far as I know, every Interstate comes with a 6-gallon Atwood dual electric/propane water heater with piezoelectric ignition. Don't recall the model number, but I think this is it…

Be careful when buying. Atwood makes similar 6-gallon units in LP-only, and with pilot lights instead of piezoelectric. If you already have LP-only and/or pilot light ignition, you can either replace with an identical unit or upgrade to LP/electric.

Don't know exactly how you would go about removing it, but since they put it in without breaking the styrofoam you should be able to take it out without breaking the styrofoam as well. Look on the back of the heater for water line connections, AND look from underneath the van for floor penetrations for propane and/or water connections before you start trying to remove the unit.
