We do have campfires, kids having a great time, dogs and cats always in attendance, we have late breakfasts (9:30am or so). We typically group at a state or national park. We did a group boondocking experience last July in the Taylor Reservoir area of Colorado and had a wonderful time. We know that our model is not everyone's cup of tea, but it is perfect for our group. We don't think that the more traditional WBCCI unit model is bad, it was just NOT for us.

David,
Did you copy your model from the 4CU, only earlier?

NO, The 4CU copied ours. We received our permanent charter at the last International. We had our CBL approved last March by the CBL committee.

HOTC model

The HOTC unit was actually just a formalization of a bunch of A/Sers that had been camping together outside the formality of the WBCCI for about 18 months before deciding to form a new unit. We were the first new unit in over a decade. The club did not even have a process for us to as it had been so long. Ken L and I emailed quite a bit during the formative stages of the 4CU so as to pass along what we had learned from our experiences. I was shocked and dismayed at the way your request for a provisional charter was handled and I made my feeling well known among several of the IBT members. I was delighted to see that Region 11 came to their senses and finally granted the 4CU a provisional charter. As your CBT is modeled after ours, it should have smooth sailing through the CBL committee.

Congrates on joining the ranks of the unconventional units. Maybe our two units can hold a joint campout. We are planning a return to Colorado this summer for our second Colorado Heatbusters Campout. Last year we had 7 rigs and we all boondocked at Taylor Reservoir. Had a great time. I will post info once we firm up this years plans
