In our case, the vote was to vote FOR a properly amended document or AGAINST the proposal presented. Our unit has about 320 votes.

Looks like that Ballot was written by someone not quite in favor of the Revision. How and when would a "properly amended document" be available to the units membership before they were to vote.
Years ago New Jersey used to write a question to be on a ballot in such a way that a Yes vote was against it and a No vote was for it. That practice was used until the vote on Fluoride and the effect on the kids called it to the public attention.

As I stated before. The vote was to direct my vote in accordance with their wishes. I held 3 sessions before our Business Meeting and one after. I have explained the nature of my planned change more than once and have e-mailed it to those who requested and provided an address.
I tried to send it to Jackson Center but was told to submit it in DuQuoin.
Simply stated:
- keep delegate voting and an annual Delegate Meeting.
- allow MAL voting electronically in advance of the Delegate Meeting OR in person at the meeting.
- incorporate the DenCo amendment.
- eliminate a "recommended" label from the Nominating Committee report.
No secrets. No surprises.

At the Region 2 rally members appeared to be FOR it.

The vote took place BEFORE I drafted the change.
By the way, I had our Region 2nd VP in 3 sessions and Region IPP in 4 (they are Unit Members). They agree that my amendment reflects the input received from our members.

Can't argue to strongly against those positions as individual points. Might question the All or Nothing stance.

I agree. The direction given me does allow some latitude. It is not ALL or nothing. Some points were more strongly held.

Of course, we aren't voting. My successor will get new direction next year.

Special Presidential Committees are dissolved once the new president is installed. No bets, by this time next year, what the priorities will be or what the Delegates' meeting will be asked to vote on. I would make a bet that we have fewer members next year than this year.

Fewer members next year... that is a good bet you are likely to win. I wonder how many members are officers, and committee members and what proportion to mere members the ratio would be. It seems the club has been steadily moving towards its goal of having lots of quality members and not as many quantity members these days. And yet its almost as if one can't see the leadership for the leaders as in not seeing the forest for the trees, with all the focusing on the tedious details the bigger picture never quite snaps into focus, like what is actually good for the club and what would increase satisfaction and membership.

The IP has told us that the committee would be carried into next year by the next Prez
He also said that the Denco amendment would be voted on at the IBT earlier this year.
He was also going to bring the constitution motion before the delegates at the International this year
Based on all that what do you think will happen??

What's happening?
A post on another thread indicated the new bylaws are nearly ready,. Other than that nothing is heard.
Has the committee really been carried forward and been able to continue their work under the present IP.?
What is the status of the status of the project and does any one have an estimate of when we will hear something.
Feels kind of mushroom like out here.

The Bylaws were presented to the EC before the close of the International.
It is beginning to look more and more like we were screwed by the last IP and maybe a continuance of that by this IP.
I had a though earlier today. If control of the Club ever is regained by the membership maybe those that have to wear certain outfits and warship a higher power could be given the same status as the Vintage Members, a separate entity functioning under it's own bylaws, with all rights of WBCCI membership by not the right to dictate there views on the majority. They could have separate parking and the right to spend anything they want on their behalf as long as it came from their pockets. If the majority of that group ends up with MH they could be officially called WBCCI SOB.

You mean sort of an intraclub for those who prefer coats and ties and other fancy clothing in 100 degree temperatures?

Rick,
The Revision Committee was a special committee and as such once it filed its final report with the EC it ceased to exist on June 27, 2011. It was up to the current IP to either continue the committee or establish a new one, he did neither.
Norm decided to not have a vote on the constitution revision in 2011 because many of the membership called for a delay as they did not have sufficient time to review the proposal. The current IP has stated the revision document will be presented to the 2012 Delegate Assembly for there amendments and vote for or against approval.
The members of the exRevision Committee listened carefully to the concerns expressed by the Delegates at the Delegate seminar on the constitution revision and the major area of concern seems to be the Delegate Assembly VS Delegate Caucus. As a result we have decided to work on a motion to amend the necessary Articles of the constitution revision document to retain the Delegate assembly. The proposed motion should be available for circulation to the membership before the end of the year. Other Units were also working on such a motion and hopefully we'll have consensus by the Delegate Assembly in 2012. All other areas of the proposal seemed to have little or no objections from the Delegates.
On June 27 when the Revision Committee submitted their final report to the 2010-11 EC we included suggested revised ByLaws and Policies with the recommendation they be given to the IBT for their review at the upcoming IBT meeting. Because there was insufficient time for the EC to review the documents before that IBT meeting they were not given out and that was understandable. However, by the July 5th IBT meeting sufficient time had elapsed for review and they should have been given to the Region Presidents, but at the July 5th EC meeting the new IP, with no discussion with the EC, said they would not be submitted to the IBT until the Mid-Winter IBT meeting. The members of the now exRevision Committee were surprised and concerned that their recommendation was not implemented. More so because the IBT is responsible for creating Bylaws and Policy for the club, not the EC. As a result an email was sent to all Region Presidents by members of the exRevision Committee expressing what happened and our concern that the membership was being denied an opportunity to see what was being proposed and to see how it would fit with the proposed constitutional revision. To date there has been no change, to my knowledge, in the IP decision about releasing the documents.
The Bylaws and Policy revisions submitted to the EC on the 27 reduced the size of the Blue book to about 100 pages, 17 pages of Bylaws about 40 pages of Policy and the rest Appendices. 90% of the changes could be implemented by the IBT under the current constitution with the remainder slanted toward the revised constitution. The proposals are major, e.g, we eliminated Article 5 in the Bylaws and wrote a new "Complaint" article with the responsibility for resolution in the hands of the Unit and if need be the Region. This is only one of many significant changes the committee suggested. None of the changes are set in stone and the IBT, as the final voice on the Bylaws and Policy of the club, can either accept the suggestions, change them or reject them, but they need to be given the opportunity to see the proposals, discuss them with the membership of their Region and decide what they want to do. The current IP however has not released the documents to the IBT.

Tom,
Thanks for the quick reply. A lot of info to absorb.
It sure looks to me like there were some broken promises by either the past or current IP.
Hopefully all the work of the committee is not down the drain.
I would hate to think this whole thing was a well thought out move by "management" to derail the pending lawsuit.

Not only does the Revision Committee cease to exist, but the direction to the delegates, proposed amendments and the motion all must be re-done. None have standing for this year!
If I can help, let me know.
