With regard to this MH question it is for or against. You cann't change the rules and not change to rules at the same time. Either it is an Airstream club or it isn't. There will be an Airstream club, it may not be WBCCI, but there will be one.

Actually, no we don't. I for one fully support the new internet initiatives that are coming around. You know about WBCCI's efforts to support units that do not have web site by providing them with the infrastructure they need to create sites.

I support the IBTs efforts to improve communication in the club by having a liaison who works between the IBT leadership and the regular Joe's and Josephine's of the club.

I support progressive concepts like the Four Corners Unit because they represent the kind of unit that the demographic of the club is asking for.

Your response is quite angry - you wouldn't happen to be a MOHO owner, would you?

Nevermind, I read your profile and answered my own question.

Buttercup, I have been a airstreamer for over 20 years now. Starting out with a 25' Classic then a 34' Limited,
finally the 37' 370 for the last 13 years.

I also own a lot and have for the last 17 years in the Minnesota Airstream Park. Most of the park thinks along the same lines as WBCCI, and for that reason the park is not doing very well. Sort of the same as your club.

By the way I have been a club member in the past attending rallys and one International.

Have a GREAT day,

Pat370

I think that we need to take the emotions out of the issue. This issue is a major one going to the core of what the WBCCI is or will be. The choice is simple (for or against) but the ramifications are significant.

I don't think being opposed means opposing every change. I would be in favor of eliminating blue berets, red coats, Lawrence Welk music, bingo, etc. So it comes down to what change.

I think that this is a major issue, even more so than the name change, but unfortunately will be much more emotional, with more passoniate lectures on both sides. With either outcome the club will be hurt. I believe that the club will come out of this wounded with either decision. It's too bad that the IBT has chosen to push this issue at this time and in the way it is being done.

I believe that this issue will be more devisive than the name change.

I also believe that expressing an opinion is not unethical since I believe in the first amendment.

This forum should be a discussion of the facts !!!

FOUL!

His Motorhome was made by Airstream in an Airstream factory.

While I agree with you on not letting SOB Moho's in your comment above was out of line.

Please keep it civil and focused on the issue everyone.

Straighten it out folks or this poll and thread will be closed. Keep it civil. I've never closed a thread before so don't make me start with this one.

Do you support the WBCCI's current plans to rebadge an SOB Class "A" motor home as an Airstream product.

A simple Yes or No will do. This is not a scientific poll, just an informal one.
My answer is "No."

Sorry! Sorry! I didn't ask that question to flame anybody, only to understand why someone would be so upset in posting. I did not intend to offend anybody.
Pat370 is no longer a member of WBCCI, I find that interesting, I am curious as to why. I have nothing against MOHO's and I have no problem with real airstream MOHOs in the club. It's the rebadged MOHOs that I am opposed to, nothing else.

I'm a little late, but my answer is NO. We own a MOHO, but we are not snobs.

Never TOO late to reply to this poll. In fact - I see that responses ares till coming in and the overwhelming response is against the proposal. Almost 88% think it's a bad idea.

If or when these guys decide to sell their Airstream MOHO they should buy an Airstream trailer like the way it used to be.

Wally towed an Airstream trailer.

Another View

Our unit has a number of AS motorhomes, and each one is owned by a very nice family. Still, I feel that if you want to belong to an Airstream organization that you should own an Airstream.

At a general meeting a few years back we had the following discussion. A member asked if long time members, we're talking over 20 years here, could still belong to our unit even though they had been forced to sell their Airstream due to age. Our President answered with a resounding No. His reason was that to be a member you had to own an airstream. By the way, that President owns a motorhome.

Now, if a long time member is no longer allowed to join friends he has known for decades because he is now too old to safely tow/drive his airstream and sells it, then why should we let owners of SOB motorhomes join our club.

I'm sure you know that members can retain their membership in the club if they sell their Airstream as long as they don't buy another brand of RV.I guess your president at that time overlooked that fact.

It was my understanding that a member could become an associate member if they sold their Airstream and bought an SOB, they just couldn't hold office, vote, or park with the Airstreams. I could be wrong since I'm new to the "Club".

Below is an excerpt of the qualifications of membership in WBCCI taken from the Bluebook.

by Airstream, Inc., may, upon request, retain their membership as Regular Members, provided such
members do not own another brand of recreational vehicle, except such Regular Members may own
another brand of recreational vehicle that is parked in a permanent or semi-permanent location to be
used by the members as a vacation facility or as a home. (6/29/96)
D. Such Regular Members shall possess all the rights and privileges of the International Club, including
the right to retain their membership number, except that those who have relinquished their
membership number and are to be reinstated as regular Members in a Unit and the International Club
shall be assigned a new membership number by International Headquarters. (6/29/96)
E. A Unit shall not establish other requirements for an applicant to be a member of a Unit. (6/29/96)

Wow! I just caught up on several days of this thread. I have decided to purchase a used "Harley Davidson" edition Ford pickup so I can go to Harley events and participate. Suppose they'll care if I pull an Airstream with it? (American icons ought to stick together, right?)

Thanks streamer23, I guess I was confused about the permanent vacation home or permanent home part. So they can stay a member if they sell their Airstream as long as they don't buy and SOB that isn't permanently parked somewhere. Got it.
