Well, I think I will be saving that membership money this year for my own gas and pancakes and appreciation dinners, thank you very much. Can't say that so many have not tried to pull them along. They don't need volunteers they need carbon copies of themselves, do not be fooled. It's all illusion. Propoganda stamped out from the top. We have zero representation in actuality. It is not a club government it is a monarch. There are no checks and balances. No wonder they beleaguer the point to just go camping ang have fun, they don't want any meddlesome thorns in their side to rock THEIR boat.

I absolutely love your assessment, Carol.
I have just sent WBCCI HQ an email alerting them that someone has really messed up their forums. I'll let you know what their answer is, if I even get one.

Thanks Brian. You know we can zig when they say zig and zag when they say zag and play by all the rules and if they think you still have a fighting chance they just bring out another dragon.

Concerning the WBCCI Forum (or whatever it is in reality):
On July 10, I posted a reply to PeeWee’s very negative opinions about the Cape Town to Cairo caravan. I recommended he read recent Algonquin College African Expedition website which traveled the same route.
I’m a registered WBCCI forum member but my message didn’t show up. I sent it a second time- -no luck. I sent a message to the Webmaster- -no response. I telephoned WBCCI HQ and politely ask what I did wrong. She (?) checked and saw that I posted a message, but that it had to go to “Tech Support.” I asked why? And is “Tech Support” at the WBCCI HQ or off site somewhere? I was told it is not there but someplace else. In an hour someone else posted a message on the same thread, but mine had to go to “tech support.” Strange- -maybe they don't like me.
I send an Email to WBCCI HQ, and on July 11, Cindy Reed replied: "Our tech support company will look into these issues and contact you." Ok, thank you. Now after a month, I give up and don’t care about their “Forum” or whatever it is.
A few days letter PeeWee posted exactly the same message here on AIRFourms. I replied with my same recommendation. He responded as expected.
So now I know what an open forum is and what the WBCCI forum is.

That is just terrible. Aren't you glad you have better sponsors for the caravan now? You have just been spared frustration upon frustration from WBCCI. I was a little suspect of the "have fun" campaign spread across multi forums and its appearance all of a sudden. Coincidence? Possibly. Wanting to post to replies on a personal level, no...no chit chat, a position and stance was what it was. Once delivered it seems the mission may be over for the time being. With some of the reverence being dished out aplenty, I almost thought I was on Moses' mountain for awhile.

I contacted Cindy Reed at WBCCI when I figured out that threads in the WBCCI.org forums were being automatically deleted when they were inactive for about 28-30 days. I got an email back today from Cindy Reed that stated that she has contacted the forum provider and the provider is working to restore the deleted threads. I guess time will tell if that effort is successful. I hope so.
Good Night.

It's funny, for an organization so resistant to change, they sure are trying to make a lot changes...all for the bad: name change, SOB motorhomes, NAZI book burnings...wait, that hasn't happened at a WBCCI rally yet has it--I guess it's just a matter of time, though! I mean, they haven't had time for another rally since the International, but Labor Day is coming up and I know our unit has a rally that weekend. Quick, everybody hide your copy of "Capetown to Cairo"!

I wondered too. I did the post on my Treo, at the Airport - could have gotten messed up due to a poor cell phone connection. I did the much shorter version of my post when it looked like I lost the first one. Hate the tiny keys on my mobile....

Looks Like the Forums Have Been Restored
I see several threads and posts from earlier this year on the WBCCI forums page as of today. It appears the "old" messages have been restored.
I contacted Cindy Reed (as did others) about a week ago. While the story seems a little odd, it appears to be true - old threads and posts were deleted - who knows why for sure. If you know of a specific thread or post that remains missing please contact Cindy Reed at WBCCI headquarters.
