Affiliate membership is now available!

We have had many requests to become Affiliate Members of Utah's Wasatch Airstream Club. We are now able to accept Affiliate Members into our unit.

What is an Affiliate Member?
Members of the WBCCI, that wish to belong to more than one unit, can join other units as Affiliates. Affiliate memberships are limited, in that, you can't vote and you can't hold office in a unit that you are an Associate member of. Of course those opportunities are available to you in your home unit.

What will you recieve?
Just like our club members, you will recieve a decal showing your support of our unit. You will also be placed on our mailing list for newsletters, announcements, and rally schedules. Being a WBCCI member you can join us any time for rallys and other events. As an Affiliate member you will know about these rallies and events early so that you won't miss out. Sometimes these fill up fast.

How to join?
Just send us a quick email to utahairstreamers@gmail.com. Please include the following information in your email.

Email address(es)
WBCCI number
Airstream model and year

We will send you an invoice via Paypal, asking for the $10 fee. You will just need a credit card. If you would rather pay by check please explain that to us in your email and we will accommodate.

That's something WBCCI needs to work on. You can renew your WBCCI membership and pay your International dues and Unit or member-at-large dues online, but so far you can't pay affiliate Unit or Intra-club dues online at the same time.

Sure would be nice if the online renewal form had a pull-down menu for selecting your primary unit, and a checklist where you can pick all of your affiliate Units and Intra-clubs, so you could pay all of your dues at one time in one place.

Anyone in the Membership Committee reading this?

This is not a Membership Committee issue per se. The intraclubs are run separately from the WBCCI parent club, and thus have their own Membership Chairman or Committees. The VAC was the first to offer on-line dues payment - long before WBCCI - I have been doing that for several years, but you currently have to go to the VAC web site to do that. I have no idea if the other intraclubs offer online dues payment because I am not a member of those.

Regarding the VAC, I believe they may be working toward a change that would support this idea. Up to now, the VAC memberships were in 12 month increments from the date of joining and were not aligned to the standard January to December (but renew by October to be listed in the Dirctory) memberships of WBCCI itself. This caused every VAC members renewal date to be unique and has caused me personally to be late renewing my VAC membership more than once. This dues period difference currently prevents the common/synchronized electronic payment idea you suggest, but I believe the VAC is moving to change to a renewal date that aligns with the WBCCI renewal date because they believe they are losing renewals because the dates to NOT currently align and people forget (like me). Some renew late and some never renew. This change, if implemented would support a common electronic payment option for at least the VAC. Again, I cannot comment on the other intraclubs, however.

This question would be better addressed by the WBCCI Electronic Communication Committee (ECC) that I think controls the WBCCI web site. This may be something that they are working on, or it may be be an idea they haven't heard yet. I will send a note to the ECC Chairman asking him to look into this idea and comment.

Thanks. Appreciate the info.

But I'm less concerned about the intra-clubs than I am about affiliate Units. I only belong to two intra-clubs— VAC as an affiliate, and Free Wheelers— but I could potentially belong to many Units as an affiliate— and I intend to, at least one affiliate membership in each Region where I plan to camp with any frequency. Yet there is no way to pay affiliate dues other than to mail a check to each Unit individually, or in rare cases through PayPal but still one Unit at a time. Being able to pay affiliate dues for multiple Units when renewing my International and Unit memberships would be more helpful to me. And hopefully to many other members.
