By invitation only?

Is the installation ceremony by invitation only and limited to International and Region officers only or can anyone attend?

In an email to those officers who will participate in this event Larson mandated dress WILL include men in white tuxedos and the ladies in floor length formal gowns.

Many of the Regional participants responded to this mandate with comments like “this is in the wrong direction”, “remember we are a camping club”, “we are sending the wrong message to the membership”, “most of the younger members and some of the older members feel we have too much pomp and ceremony” and last “If we are going to take this to take this organization from good to great we will need to make some major changes which will include less formality”

Larson has turn his back on these comments and responded with the following email message:

“This upcoming Installation Ceremony is one of the most significant events that I will have had the privilege of experiencing. Other events that I have dressed similarly for are High School and three college graduations, my children’s weddings and a visit to the White House Oval Office. So you see this is not just merely a passing event. It is VERY important to both Joan and I. Events like this have set the WBCCI apart from “just a camping club” or “just a recreational club”. Wally Byam set high standards several years ago for us to perpetuate and keep the WBCCI special from all the others.”

All I can say is WOW! The leadership of this club is so full of themselves that they compare an Installation event with a visit to the Oval Office! No wonder this club is dieing, the leadership is more interested in their own wants that they turn their back to the needs of the membership.

I am so flabbergasted by this mindset that I just don’t know how to respond but felt those of you out there should see how the inner workings of this club are NOT moving forward.

Now I have to go study my WBCCI history and see if I can find the photo of Wally at a rally with a white tux on!

Amazed,
Ed
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I did not realize they were going all out for entertainment at Bozeman. I would pay richly for a seat on the shuttle to watch the folks scramble up the hill on their way home. I still enjoy the memory of the "gussied up" folks making their way from the bus in Lansing with their flag poles. BTW does this voguing involve any member cost? Paste it on the Blue Beret cover and the young families will be lined up to join this camping club. Guess any new officers without their own formal attire in the cedar wardrobe may be out of luck or out of pocket.

The only people I've enjoyed seeing in white tuxedos are The Temptations. They have style, they have class, and boy do they have moves. Mr. Larson, I regret to inform you that you will not be experiencing the pleasure of Mr. Coldwell's company at your Inaugural Ball. With Sincerest Regrets, Mr. Coldwell

News Flash ...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. Dateline: September 15, 2007, Pearly Gates, Upthere. Saint Peter has announced that recent events on earth have inspired Johnny Paycheck to revise an old hit and record it on Reprise Records as a duo with Johnny Cash. Titled Take This Mandate and Shove It, the song will break new musical ground by having The Lawrence Welk Orchestra back up Messrs. Paycheck and Cash. Saint Peter was unable to explain the reason behind this unprecedented collaboration, but noted the song is expected to be released in Bozeman, Montana on July 4, 2008. An initial pressing of 1,200 78 rpm records is expected to satiate local demand. Mr. Paycheck, furiously busy in his studio, was unavailable for comment.

I have NO RIGHT to comment on anything about WBCCI. But I am going to. If I were ever going to consider being a member.....AND I was for an instant, this rediculus black tie affair in the middle of a camp ground has made my decision.

O WAIT....I get it.....I think a case of Washington state wine is in order here. Columbia Creast Melot 2002 ...decorated in white roses to present to the PRES. And I can make the presentation in My finest cammo covered in Goose poop directly from the fields next to the winery. HEY....this cammo parka costs more than a Tux anyway. I thought it nice to give a TASTE of Washington.

Oh no.

I can't fit my dress into my folding camp chair.

Or through the door in my Airstream.

Darn.

Just noticed this on Save Wally. Looks like it is from Burningman. I think this is his attire for the cocktail party after the Inagural ball at Boozman.

I have interfaced with Jerry a few times over the years and he seemed like a reasonable guy. He does like his western hat and he is from Texas. I do not know why he would start such a controvesy, even before he has started his year in office. Of course, the proposed mandate only applies to his officers. After all this fuss, he will likely withdraw it. I usually do not attend the ball. The kids usually have a sock hop the same night which is much more fun.
