Such unbridled enthusiasm Ralph, should not go unrewarded. Your check is in the mail. SHHHHH, but those mud rasslin' bouts were to be kept under wraps until my surprise inaugral match. The new board caped and ready to do some real slingin' and take downs. I just know with the proper promotional material going out in the BB well enough in advance that those paper coupons will be flying through the mail and attendance will soar under my administration.
I have the music and theme chosen
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains you never change your socks
And the little streams of "recipe" come a-trickling down the rocks
There's a lake of stew and of whiskey too
Oh, I'm bound to go where there ain't no snow
Where the rain don't fall and the wind don't blow
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains
Will the members really cotton up to this? It isn't "over the top" do you think?

ALL RIGHT FORREST!
As and ex-military man, I too resent all this formality and fluff. We are a camping club for god sakes. Like the saying goes(your Airstream may be superior, but you are not) applies to the WBCCI.

What was I thinking ???
I visited the Airstream 'Mystic Springs Campground' outside of Pensacola, Fla today and was impressed with the people and the grounds. I expressed an interest in joining their Unit, but not in joining the International Organization again. They asked why I wouldn't be interested in the Int Club, and I told them of this new requirement, and that I am not interested in those kind of rules. They welcomed me to complete an application for membership and I met some great new airstreamers!
Maybe when the Int Org can't pay the power bill on the building in Jackson Center, they'll get the message.

Liked the "Tradition" link 2AIR, and it really made me think.
What it made me think was this: if the WBCCI mobilizes to defend Jackson Center against the combined forces of Mandalay, Fleetwood, and Jayco, get me a flag: I'm in. I'll even dig out my old BDU's for a day or two.
Short of that... I lost interest in that sort of pomp the day I got my DD214.

Tuxedo Installation
Our Unit held their Installation of Officers last Saturday. The choice between Hawaiian shirt and suit was easy, I didn't want to disrespect the members' tradition in our unit. The choice between tuxedo and suit was more difficult. The tux is fun to wear, I look damned good in it, and I never get to wear it. I chose the suit anyway. Tradition.
The tux would not have mocked the club's tradition, may have created fun memories for attendees, and I would have enjoyed it. It would not have harmed anyone or anything. And, in a way, I wouldn't mind having added to the 'conversation' about displaying formal clothing in a camping club's ceremonies.
Okay, okay, I know -- the difference is, I wasn't telling anyone else to wear one if I did. I would have made the choice for me only. Still I considered just doing it. You know, send the picture into Blue Beret and all that stuff.
Now I'll never know what it would have been like. Oh well, let's go make a cup of tea and forget what I was talking about . . . it wasn't memorable.

I think the future president is not only full of himself but full of some other matter. I'm a member of WBCCI but mainly so I can be a member of the local Pensecola Unit 29 and a member of Mystic Springs Park. The people are down to earth and real. It is a relaxed environment which is why I bought an RV in the first place. I bought an Airstream because I like them. I know I am often told that WBCCI is not a "camping club" and that's fine, but I feel relaxing needs to fit somewhere in that equation. I think the pomp and ceramony centered around the president's induction is over kill. It seems he suffers from military mentallity and thinks he's having a pass and review before pinning on the rank of General. As I stated earlier, rather full of himself and then some.
