"The Wally Byam Airstream Club"!

Here it comes! I suspect another official name change resolution is on the near horizon. This name is being casually used by some IBT folks.

I must admit, I like it. It makes sense and outsiders will know who we are. Plus, it represents us as more than a caravan club.

The new and official logo approved by the IBT during the International. Orders have been placed and will be sent out to new members as soon as they come in.
"Moving WBCCI Forward". Many changes are coming with the new and aware leadership. The new logo can be down load on the club web site.

I think I like it also. Especially since they kept the connection to WBCCI while moving the direction/definition forward. The decal looks nice.

Amateurish design appears to have been done in the 30s by Mrs Byam in her kitchen. Sorry, but even old people in trailers should look forward and positive.

Agree with logo design. Dated design and not welcoming. Also would have had Wally on RHS looking over world vs. LHS with his back to it. Same with photography, never have person in corner looking out of image.

"The Wally Byam Airstream Club"!

Not a real problem. I don't put any stickers on our AS skin. In fact, I'm busy pulling all of them off the aluminum.

When I finally get my air forums stickers they are going on the side and rear window glass.

That may be part of the original design and they are likely trying to keep some historical aspect of its orgin while moving forward with the name addition of club.

I think some here just like to complain no matter the subject or issue. Personally I see positive change in the club. It is not going to happen over night but it will happen. Instead of complaining take an active part in the club and be part of that change not just another do nothing complainer.

Pretty much follows WBCCI tradition . It really shouldn't be a surprise.

I like the connection to "Airstream". That's what it is all about. Change is good, not everyone will be satisfied whatever the those changes are. Give it a chance.

I attended a seminar at the WBCCI rally in Lewisburg regarding "branding" and making the club more known to Airstream owners. One of the many discussions was use of the new logo and suggested use of the word Airstream when WBCCI units create Facebook pages and web sites.

New owners and potential owners of new and used Airstreams will likely search the web using the word Airstream. If WBCCI units use the word Airstream in their web site URL, Facebook page, etc. the club believes it's more likely that prospective members will find useful information more quickly.

The new logo (the club is still WBCCI at this point) is intended to facilitate brand recognition.

Unfortunately, complainers and nay sayers will always exist. Within reason, I always look at it as glass half full.

From your personal experience, what does being in the club mean? As I mentioned, I just signed up a few days ago.

As a less than one year member of WBCCI, I like the effort by its current leadership to freshen up the image (and operations). I haven't seen the strife at all--my experience is with the local unit, which is very good and I found it quite welcoming. That's all I really care about, quite frankly.

I suspect this won't be the last identification change; it's likely an evolving thing. Do you remember when Datsun rebranded itself as Nissan? First the badging went "DATSUN by Nissan," then "NISSAN" with smaller letters underneath "Datsun," and finally, just "NISSAN."

Maybe we should all lighten up and give this a chance to work?

Cazual,

You will get different definitions of what it (WBCCI) means and what you get, from all of us.

Google Wally Byam and read up on him. Google WBCCI and read that. Google images of Airstream Caravans and look at the historical pictures. Doing that, even if you only read the quick wiki information, will give you the historical perspective of what WBCCI is/was.

For us, we chose to join our friendly fun local Airstream unit after they reached out to us on this forum thereby joining WBCCI. We have our red numbers but have not put them on. We have not experienced any strife or politics at all. Someday we will go to an International just because.

Many Airstreamers know nothing about the history and are just fine. Many Airstreamers know nothing about this forum and are just fine.

In this crazy world we all live in we choose to spend time with doing fun things like camping, sometimes alone sometimes with nice people sharing food, drink and experiences, laughing, belonging, boondocking, being greatfull. Someday we hope to take up some WBCCI members on their courtesy parking and maybe offer some of ours.

Is that worth 65$ a year. Maybe, maybe not. We get a magazine, we get courtesy parking opportunities, we get the red numbers. And things cost money and organizations cost money to run.

None of this has to be in an Airstream but that's what we chose after giving up our tents. It doesn't have to include WBCCI but we like it for now.

The glass is definitely 1/2 full and certainly half empty. We are realistic optimists who are very pessimistic about where this world is going. But we're going to see it in our Airstream as much as we can, life willing.

Done waxing philosophical.
