SW FL units?

Hope this doesn't show up as a double post.

We just bought and brought home our new to us AS. Now, I am one happy camper!

I want to join the WBCCI ASAP, but the application has a line for unit to join. I don't know which unit. Can I just leave it blank? Or, become a MAL and later join a unit?

Thanks! Am very much looking forward to attending WBCCI events!

If you're in a hurry to get your big red numbers, go ahead an join as a member at large, and shop for a unit later.

Red face depends on what your looking for

I am not a member of the WBCCI. That does not mean I won't be some day but I was an Escapee. That association was really great when I joined but, deteriorated over time as it became larger. Lots of bickering - posted signs about where and what you were allowed to do. Huge commercial interest took over the rallys - etc, etc. Less and Less interest in just camping and enjoying the fire.

I have found the forum a more than satisfactory replacement. I went to my first forum function last month, the fall leaf thing, and what ya know - just a bunch of really nice folks, with common interests, getting around the fire and enjoying their Airstreams.

I can not say that the WBCCI has the same kind of problems that developed in the Escapees but from talking to Airstream people and reading the forum, I suspect it does so I'm taking a wait and see attitude. Meanwhile the forum provides Most everything I need without all the formalities of WBCCI membership. I can put my flags anywhere I want>

There is a unit here in the Fort Myers area, with several get togethers a year. We belong to the Florida Springs unit, they have more rallys that are appealing to us, but they are further North than you may want to travel (nearest rally they are involved in is the Florida State rally in Sarasota).

Hi Pat, You can join as MAL and attend any rally, airstream park. You can do anything anyone else can except vote at an individual unit. We are going from being in a unit to MAL. If you find a unit later you want to join you can change then.

Yes. You don't have to be a member of a unit to be a member of WBCCI. If you really want to join a unit, the WDCU will be happy to have you. You don't have to belong to a particular unit to attend a rally, either. And you can pay a nominal amount to be an associate member of any, or as many, units as you would like.

I did join the WBCCI as a MAL. Will look into units as mentioned in Ft. Myers and Sarasota.

Thanks for the information. The list of units I found did not give cities, just names.
