Hi Mike,
I know WBCCI #23 is still held by the son (Thomas Towsley) of it's original assignees: Paul and Frances Towsley. I met Thomas a couple of years ago and he has a lot of early history. He was on some of the early caravans (#2, #3, #6, #10, #13, #30, etc.) with Wally as a child, as were you, but he is NOT listed with hist parents in the
1955 nor
1960 Directories. I beleive that #23 has been continuously held by the Towsley family from 1952 to current. That is probably the record for longest continuously used WBCCI number (starting three years before the club was formed!).
I know that at least one Charter member of WBCCI that is still around, Rupert Leuch, #496, who joined the club in
1955 and first participated on Caravan #6 - Eastern Canada
1955. His wife Vera passed away a couple of years ago. I think they were both at the 2008 Bull Shoals, Arkansas 50th anniversary celebration of the 1st International Rally.
I know of one or two others there were children caravan participants in the 1950's and are currently members themselves, but the names escape me at the moment, so that's all I have for now.
