Just wondering...

I understand that you can wet the number decals in warm soapy water and the aluminum skin and slide the numbers around until you get them in place. If that is true, can't you do that to the plastic?

I just put my numbers on yesterday. We usually put them on the windows. The numbers slide quite easily in soapy water on glass in back but not so on the plastic Rock Guards in front. I messed up one number and when I replace it I will use more soap. Also DO NOT wet the paper backing before you start to peel the numbers. When wet, the paper stays on the adhesive and the numbers are so fragile you can't easily scrape the residue off the adhesive side.

I'm an Engineer too. Army type though and I didn't figure this out until AFTER it happened. But I managed to get our numbers on and time will tell if they are stuck well.
So we'll see. In retrospect I think I suspected something like this would happen but I was up on the ladder putting the numbers in place and neglected to tell the wife to keep the stuff AWAY from the wet surfaces. So the front went on first and were OK. The rear not so much but looks good and we'll see.

Hi - Welcome to the forum!

This post went silent in 2014...probably not a lot of answers coming from the original posters.

However there are other threads that have info on where to get numbers:
