International President's Newsletter

International President, Jerry Larson, is initiating a monthly newsletter that is to be emailed to a limited list of committee heads, Region Presidents, etc. As Region 9 Webmaster, I received it from my region President. With the permission of my Region President, I have posted it on the Region 9 website. Click on the graphic on the home page to display the newsletter pdf.

I am really pleased to see some sort of communication of this sort, limited in intended audience as it may be. In the past, outside of the International Rally and the Midwinter IBT, the International officers have been practically invisible.

One thing that stands out like a sore thumb is the minuscule number of pre-registrations for the Madison Rally. I'm sure that many members are hanging fire to see what happens in the realm of fuel prices.

And right there on the first page of the newsletter it says it all: "Your attendance is your vote".

Exactly why the proxy vote is so important if all members' votes are to be counted. Makes you wonder why the two members pushing for it have grievance committee compalints against them. Do you think it is because the IBT doesn't want everyone to have a vote just the ones they meet at International each year, you know the quality members that count?

I think this year at Bozeman approximately 12 units from the East got priced right out of all of their members votes. There has to be a better way than to have to go to point A where the IP says at the amount of fee that the IBT sets or you don't count. Elitist?

But I see as John points out there have been more efforts made to be seen as communicative. After such a huge upheaval and outcry I am not surprised there has been response from the IBT including the IP.

John you have a grand website for the unit. All the units could do better to have something that relevant and appealing for theor WBCCI website. There aren't too many websites for this area Region 4 unfortunately. Good job.

I published
and distributed, “Presidents Comments on
WBCCI & Grievances” to the same individuals
for this ‘Review’. It was also posted on the
Club’s Web Site; Forums; 2020 Committee. It
was encouraging to see our Members providing
positive recommendations, comments, and facts
after this posting. What is unbelievable and
shocking are the unprovoked attacks on these
members by a very minority number of
Members. Is it no wonder our Members,
especially Club officers, are reluctant to make
comments on the forums?

Yes and as encouraged recently by the International President in the thread he just posted to he wants to be certain everyone post s their name and WBCCI number for identification. I wonder why. And I wonder what posts he thinks are attacks. I have not seen an attack ever. Goes to show we might benefit from disclosure as to why the Region 1 president was suspended. He probably didn't know he was attacking either. I guess anything other than an attaboy and your goose is cooked. Looks like the same old story being passed out to everyone still, we don't post because we get attacked.

Do we have “Perception”, or “Image” issues?

Quote:
ISSUES/CONCERNS...
• Prospective members are viewing our Club’s
Web Site and Forum. Our Staff at Headquarters
in Jackson Center and your International
President have received direct inputs from
some prospective members stating they WILL
NOT join any organization with all the
discontent and problems posted on our Forum.
• Do we have “Perception”, or “Image” issues? It
has been said that we need at least ten positive
comments for every negative one. What do you
think?
It seems our IP believes the only two reasons for negative forum postings is due to “Perception” and “Image”. I Wonder why the possibility of actual problems was not considered?

September issue posted on Save Wally

Folks,

Just wanted to let y'all know that the latest issue of the IP's newsletter (as well as earlier issues) has been posted over at SaveWally.org.

Issue 3, September '08 - President's Month in Review

Pretty depressing to me. Sounds like the International leadership is as insulated from the members as ever.
