I Want a 5 Pole Flag Holder/Bracket
Now that the WBCCI is allowing regular members to display 5 flags on their rigs I'm in the market for a 5 pole flag holder/bracket for the front of my trailer's hitch. I've already checked out Pole Ease, they only offer 1 and 3 pole holders/brackets. Does anyone know where I can purchase a 5 pole holder/bracket? Or has anyone built one and is willing to share the directions?

Whoa! What exactly do you mean they're "allowing"? You couldn't before?

That's right. Only International Officers could fly 5 flags at WBCCI events. The rules have been changed and all members can fly up to 5 WBCCI "approved" flags on their rigs. Of course if you are not attending a WBCCI event you can fly whatever flags and as many flags as you want.
At WBCCI events I want to fly:
The national flag of the United States of America
New Hampshire State flag
WBCCI Unit Office flag - yep, I'm one of them
Airstream flag - got it from the Airstream online store
Drinking flag - you know, the one with a cocktail glass on it (not sure this is an "approved" flag )
When I'm not attending WBCCI events I want to fly:
The national flag of the United States of America
New Hampshire State flag
Drinking flag
Jolly Roger "prepare to be boarded" flag
Nascar flag

Maybe you could use 2 of the 3 pole mounts...then you could be a 6 flagger... But don't let the Bylaw police catch you....

I love the non-WBCCI selection. Especially the Jolly Roger flag, since I'm an old 'Navy' man. I'll be following this thread, since I need to get a pole holder myself.

No, I don't. In fact I have not seen a 5 pole bracket on a Airstream trailer, just on the Airstream Motorhomes and the design of those won't work on our hitches.
Anyone out there with a 5 pole bracket on their trailer? If so could you please post pictures and provide measurements?
Balgrn, we wish we could have attended the last rally of the season. Just had made plans to be in Maine that weekend before the rally was scheduled.

Leon: With the change in the WBCCI Bylaws, there might be a decent enough market for 5 pole brackets that Pole Ease might consider making them. Did you mention to him the recent Bylaw change is the reason you are now in the market for a 5 pole bracket? You might contact him again and push a little harder. I really like his 3 pole bracket I bought last year.

yes and no, this is my buddy's trailer.
here is a picture of the 5 place holder he got from pole ease. he argued with them until they sent it.
unfortunately, he has only 3 flag poles and has a habit of borrowing 2 of mine on occasion.

Flag pole holder photo
John et al -
How nice that I just found this thread. Been looking into a flag holder but have been a little hesitant to go with the 3 flag set up. Do you have, could you post a closer shot of the 5 flag holder that your buddy has?? Thanks!
Also, the poles, were they also from that vendor or did you go with something local from HD/ Lowes/ etc...?
Thanks again!

John-
Thanks for looking! Appreciate it loads! Perhaps the next time you see that rig...?
BTW - does anyone have a photo of that 'flag box" 2air was talking about? Sounds interesting for lots of things... Just curious.

Thats funny . I had no idea big poles were required. My parade and all 5 of my flags have skriveled and beome droopy.
I will keep looking for BIG flag pole holes and a proper sence of my own humility.
Is 1 inch good ?

Flag holder
It dawned on me that the 3/8 inch hole would be unorthidox because a large flag attached to it would be too much, but would it be possible to replace a thicker wooden stick with a 3/8 inch piece of aluminum rod or stainless and attach your flags to them instead. The 3/8 bracket is thick cast aluminum and the angles would be sufficient if the rods were long enough. Might even look less over powering unless appearing large and overpowering is part of the appeal.
Of course one of my lessons in bible study as a kid was to "...not involve yourself in things you do not understand". I admit, I am not much of a flag person. Maybe I am all wet...as suggested earlier.

If I did that I wouldn't be involved in much at all!
Our unit is pushing to get everyone displaying flags. I have to admit, it would probably look pretty cool at a rally to have all those trailers together with flags flapping in the breeze.
I wondered...Flag etiquette says you have to take your flag down at sunset or shine a light on it all night. So do people take their flags down at night? I wouldn't want to offend someone by improperly displaying a flag.

There's a fairly simple and inexpensive solution that has become quite popular in these parts. All you need is an outdoor work box, (weather proof box that you might install an outdoor outlet in), a landscape light fixture, and a couple of u-bolts. mount the box to the tounge jack with the u-bolts, and then attach the landscape light to the outside, and point it up. (these fixtures are the sort that are typically mounted knee high along a walkway, and have a shade that keeps the light pointing down, so as to illuminate the path, without blinding the pedestrian at night) You can get electricity into the box off the tounge jack's supply.
they cast just the right amount of light, straight up onto the flags, and the shade keeps anyone standing nearby from getting blinded by the glare off the bulb. looks really cool.
I don't have the setup myself, as I've yet to spring for the 3-flag setup. But I think our new "Jungmeister", Yukionna, has one on her rig. perhaps we can get her to post a pic.

well, I tried to edit to add a pic of the type of light fixture I was talking about, and the "administrator" informs me that we only have 15 minutes to edit posts.
ok...
anyway, here's a pic of the type of light I'm talking about :
can't insert this pic, but here's a link to a page at lowes.com.
