**FLY FISHERS WANTED-Four Corners Unit**

Looking for member singles and couples who travel w/o their kids or any groups with moderate to advanced fly fishing experience, who have the desire to help plan, participate and travel on some fly fishing excursions in small groups in and around the four corners area this upcoming year. Must have the desire to have fun, meet new people with a similar interest in sharing and learning about this great sport. Idea would be to do excursions that last 3-7 days in areas that are known for their unique and great fishing. Maybe a day or two with guides and the rest of the time fishing solo or with our group. Boondocking when possible. Let me know what you think......

Well the wife and I have our rods etc. I’ve been fishing forever (fresh and salt) but just picking up fly fishing. We will be traveling AZ, NM, UT,WY,MT this winter thru summer. Will be doing some fly fishing WY/MT for sure. If your willing to travel with beginners PM me. If not no hurt feelings I understand.

My wife and I love to fly fish. I’ve been fly fishing in many places around the US and Canada over the years, and it’s one of my favorite hobbies. Many of our camping trips revolve around fishing and river access. I might be up for something like this, depending on timing of trips, schedules, etc.

I’m actually going to look at an acreage tomorrow that has a nice dry fly creek/river at the bottom of the property, with plans to park at least two Airstreams beside for fishing rental accommodation. Tons of great trout lakes within a 15 minute drive too. It might be a bit too far out for your trips though, as it is in BC. I haven’t fished a ton south of the border other than in Montana and Wyoming. The Bitterroot is one of my favorite spots.

Hope you have great adventures!

I'm interested. I fish avidly, tie flies almost daily. My wife hikes but doesn't fish.

My wife and I both fly-fish. It is our main reason for camping and we usually boondock. We also live in Colorado. Please include us on your list.

Thanks for a great idea. I am intensely interested. Avid Flyfisher, Airstream Interstate, live in St Petersburg, Florida. Just returned from three days of fly fishing in Blue ridge, Georgia. Looking for more, although distance and overall "road time" will have to be a consideration.

Avis (30+ years) fly fisher also. Brad and I belong to the same fly fishing club. I am interested, but we are normally on the road for many months during the summer.

I would suggest a trip to the San Juan River in New Mexico.

Wow!! Great to see so many interested. Just a couple of thoughts after looking at everyones replies.
1) Regarding the level of fly fishing experience. I guess it does not really matter as long as you are in pairs and are able to fish with someone at your own level. I was thinking that if we are doing guided trips, fishing at different level can be frustrating to the other person, for example on a float trip. And it makes it difficult for the guide to ensure everyone has the same attention and quality experience.
2) Stupid COVID. This may impact or limit our planning abilities. For example in NM you still are required to be a NM resident to use any state park facilities. For example somebody mentioned the San Juan but you need to be a NM resident to fish Navajo State Park and the quality waters.
3) With that said was just thinking of some ideas and possible times of the year. Anyone with ideas please contribute. But keep in mind we want to be a smaller group of about 6-10 people per outing for logistics and planning guide services.
Some places of possible interest....
NM. Chama Area-Chama River. Red River, Los Pinos. Wading. Starts to fish well early as April. Has RV parks, limited camping. Can get cold and snow through memorial day
San Juan River. Tail Water so fishes well through out the year. Float trips are most productive. Access to RV sites at State parks. April can be warm enough to RV. Currently need to be a NM resident to access state parks. Not sure about other lodging??
Rio Grande. April depending on flows. Wading can be difficult.
Costilla Creek. After memorial day. Small stream with cutthroat. Recently did a fish kill above RCCLA to repopulate w correct native species. But still is planningg to fish well below fish damn. Great camping experience with access to Alpine lakes.
CO. Lots of places. But the some that come to mind...
Poudre River. April, May, June. Wading. Lots of areas to fish and camp. Fires last year may impaft fishing? Big Thompson also an option not to faraway.
Conejos River. July-August. Can get crowded. Difficult to time hatches.
WY. Alcova. Platte River. After Memorial Day. Float trips. Wind can be an issue
Thermopolis. Big Horn. Never been looking into more information.

All these spots I mentioned have reputable guide services. Please help add the list or contribute with any comments or suggestions.
