I am a big supporter of one member one vote. The beauty of that is in it's simplicity. The problems of educating delagates and time spans of voting assemblies can all be circumvented with a simple member vote and timely communications. I don't see how involvement can be advocated and become successful when the information back is dispersed as slowly and as generally as it is in the Blue Beret.

As a cell phone with bad reception, "Can you hear me now?" There is just too much lag time for response in this day and age. The world has taken on a faster pace. A good faith change would be demonstration of embracing the World Wide Web, NOW!

I too agree with the poster. In fact, I had written out a fairly involved post responding to "what's the deal" when I deleted it all because the post explained so simply and so well just what the deal was. More words would not have improved the explanation! ~G

I guess I'm the only one

I posted the one person one vote idea and sheeesh!

I found out I needed a civics lesson and otherwise was introduced to the fact I seem to be the only one at WBCCI that feels that way.

I read the replies to your post and it is easy to see where the person who responded to you stands. I get the impression that he doesn't care for MAL's very much.

Very few folks are really bothered by governance structure or the existence of a non voting *ssociate membership class. Most I know would really rather do without it if they could figure out how.

I think he considers MAL's as third class citizens.

It's thinking like his that leads to despair.

hi az and g'c...

i wouldn't read too much into those replies...
bryan is a leadership/group/association consultant...
that's his business as i understand.
so he's holding back...mostly
and the posts do read like lectures sometimes....
because he is trying to help us learn...yadda yadda.

but goin camping...
you are 2b commended for getting that thread goin'...
that's about the most activity over at the wbcci forum yet...

so good job...

i've got my own ideas on voting...

one vote per member...sure.

but the power-value of each vote is another matter....

my thought is...

length of trailer multiplied by wbcci number or air number whichever is higher....divided by years in the wb...

that way the newest members would have the greatest voting power...

just a thought...

cheers

2air' ~ Don't forget to multiply the result by 80%, for the safety factor. Maybe I have that confused with something else......

Oddly your voting value method seems feasible if divided by %80.

I went over and said my peace (or is it piece?) about "One Member - One Vote" over on WBCCI forum's. I won't repeat my comments here except to say that this is a sorely needed change.

If you want to read the rest of my comments, please visit the WBCCI Forums (the link is in the first message in this string).

I'm a MAL and intend to stay one. I belong to WBCCI so that I can attend functions and rallies as I choose. I do not care to belong to a unit as do not want any "social responsibility". I don't know if I would demand one member, one vote. Large organizations run that way tend to become "constipated". I would like to see some representation for MALs. We are dues paying members and have a right to some say in the club. MALs should be structured as a Region within WBCCI (not a unit; there are enough MALs to be a region). We could then elect a delegate who could voice our opinions and have a vote on the board of the club. The "old guard" would not have to be concerned about a MAL takeover as the MAL rep would only be one vote of thirteen.

Well Dahhhhh----I find it intesting that whenever something new or costructive is suggested it is met with a statement like this. I suppose it depends on who determines what needs to be fixed or improved.

Suggestion:: Allow members at large to vote on Club policys.
Answer--If you want to make WBCCI vibrant and strong, I suggest the first step is to discover what really needs to be fixed and improved.

Suggestion:: Could we simplify the process for making changes within the club?
Answer--If you want to make WBCCI vibrant and strong, I suggest the first step is to discover what really needs to be fixed and improved.

Suggestion:: Lets seek ways that to do business so Rallys could be be used for their original purpose, to have fun.

Suggestion:: Is there some way we could change the process in which International club officers are selected so as to envolve more younger people?
