2011 Florida state rally info

Thought we should have a seperate thread to cover happenings, rumors etc at the rally.
Below is a repeat of a post in the MOHO thread.

We just arrived at the Florida State Rally.

Normally there is a "State of the WBCCI" Forum conducted by the IP.

This year it is scheduled for Fri. from 1 to 2 PM

It is appropriately listed as " FATE OF THE WBCCI"

One topic of the talk will be a full court press on the new constitution. Try and find out when it will be released.

Rick, we are on the way to the rally. Stoped just north of Tampa to visit friends, will be there on Tuesday. How many people have showed up and do you know how many they expect?

at this point it is all early workers. There are about 6 in vintage right now. Attendance is expected to be around 400 I think.
Also heard they need a new chairman for next year but not sure if that is the case.
Should have more after the early worker "gourmet hot dog dinner"

Not sure what you mean by show, however there are new Airstreams on display and there is an open house in the Vintage (over 25 years old) parking area on Sat. afternoon. There are also vendor displays for parts and pieces and a Sat. morning flea market

The new Airstreams are on display now and should be there thru saturday.

The Vintage Open House is 1 to 3 sat. afternoon and most , if not all will be open for viewing.

The vintage area is toward the rear of the grounds

The vendors are not very exciting, at least to me as there is too much clothing and other junk and not enough running gear, but there is some representation
Vendors are open all day.
The new trailer and vintage trailer should be open to all. Technically you should be a paid attendee for the flea market sat. morning, and possibly the vendor area although I don't think anyone is watching that closely

Hope those of you in attendance will take good notes at the Fate of the WBCCI presentation and report on this forum.

Among other things, I expect,

1. Lots of good words on the new, improved, constitution and bylaws, without, however, details,

2. Emphasis that the WBCCI must open up membership to other brand RVs--single brand RV clubs can no longer survive. (That was the party line in 2007)

3. Another dues increase inevitable soon.

I think the only time badges are checked is when you enter the building of nightly entertainment or dinner. The vintage Open House is open to the public. I don't know about the meeting being open or closed but doubt they are screening bodies filing into the auditorium. I would think the vendors and new Airstream dealer would welcome all visitors as well. I think there is a flea market too that would be a good event to catch. Check the schedule for times and dates. There are probably contact numbers listed too. There is always the possibility that you might want to inquire about a day pass (perhaps including dinner and entertainment) but I think you would have free range of the fairgrounds as a visitor without a membership or pass to the other activities and areas. I hope some others chime in and confirm ar clarify my comments.

I don't think there is any problem wandering the fairgrounds or even going in the vendors building. The new trailer display is in the parking lot out front.
Some one may watch for a rally ribbon going into the flea market, but even that is unlikely. The flea markey is inside

They will watch for ribbons going into the evening entertainment and the dinner, but other than that should not be any problems

Sarasota Rally

We visited the Rally today. We are not WBCII members. We have an Airstream, but not at the rally. No problem going in to visit the vendors or wander through the Airstreams. Camping World, Fantastic Vents, Zipdee and other misc. vendors are present. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Airstream is even represented with personnel from Jackson Center, as well. I don't think there is a problem attending the swap meet on Saturday morning, since we did that a couple years ago. Go enjoy and have fun.

Any Argosy trailers?

I was wondering if any vintage Argosy(s) have attended the Sarasota rally? Are they allowed to mingle with the shiny Airstream family? I'm living in my reconditioned 1976 24' Argosy in Venice, FL for the winter and would love to connect with anyone else who owns one.

Hi, and welcome to the forums!

Yes, you can join the WBCCI with an Argosy. I am sure there are Argosies at the Florida State Rally. And there are probably thousands of Argosy owners on these forums!

If you scroll down the main page you will find a section specifically about each model, in fact.
