Unhappy It’s Broken, but the 2004 Safari is Clean! (Sort of)

Monday evening I attempted to wash our Safari for an upcoming trip to Yosemite. I successfully hosed off the roof while performing a gravity-defying balancing act on top of a 6-foot ladder . Half way though the wash, I fell off or a 2-foot ladder while taking no risk, landed on landscape rocks, and heard my left foot break . In denial, I reasoned that my foot couldn’t be broken if I could finish washing the Safari! I nearly finshed, but gave up by the time I reached the back.

Needless to say, my Yosemite reservations are now canceled, and I get to stare at the back of my semi-clean Safari while sitting on my back porch with my foot elevated .

Does anyone know of an economical mobile RV detailing service in the Riverside, CA area?

rjd,

MAJOR BUMMER!!!!

Sorry to hear of your mis-hap and the resulting trip cancellation.

A suggestion on detailing: Try calling some of the larger RV parks or 'resorts' as they now bill themselves in your area. They usually have one or two mobile RV detailers on their park referral list.

We have them in the RV resorts that I service in FL. The guys are very good at what they do and usually have a large tank of treated rinse water so your trailer will dry spot free. Just be sure to tell them to go easy with the pressure washer rinse.

That is sad. You're ahead of me in washing my trailer. I just got the roof and front done, and now it's raining. If I was in the area, I'd swing by and finish it for you.

Take it easy, and keep that ankle elevated.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune , but I thank you for sharing it with the forum. It may make us all be a little more cautious when we are tempted to use that top step on a step ladder.

Hey RJD
Get one of these...
http://www.littlegiantladder.com/lit...ork-plank.html
I got mine just before our trip to Disneyland. The workplank is very sturdy on the littlegiant ladder. It was a breeze washing the top of my trailer.
While we were at the RV park near Disneyland a self contained cleaning truck drove up to wash and detail one of the other rvs at the park. I wish I had the name to pass on to you...I'm sure you can google "cleaning truck" and find them.

OOooo bummer. That really stinks! I think I would have gone anyway. I can still press the accelerator and hit the barake with my right foot!

I appreciate all the well wishes.

Food for thought... No only was I standing on the "top" step, but the ladder sank in mud.

Is there such a thing as a "cursed" airstream? This is our second misfortune in about as many months! The first was when "non-airstream" dealer flooded our carpet with "black" water and allowed it to mildew during the dealer prep. The upside was that the carpet was replaced. The downside was that the carpet was not an exact match (to my OCD standards), nor was the installation performed as well as the original. I am glad that the dealership did step up to the plate and try to fix it.

Liz and I were washing and waxing Amelia a couple of weeks ago... She then shamed me into washing my van, the first time in the 6 years I've owned it that I got up on a ladder and did the roof!

Oh, ouch Robert!!!

I'd be happy to come over and finish washing it to your exacting specifications - but perhaps after our monsoonal moisture has passed. No sense in tempting the Gods of Irony.

I washed the Towster last week before we headed to Mt. Laguna (San Diego) for the weekend. It hadn't been washed in many, many months. Yuck! For a lovely neighborhood, we sure have a lot of dirt and birds.

Virginia

PS If we weren't stuck in town - I'd extort those Yosemite reservations out of you somehow.

Does this mean I no longer need to find a mobile RV Detailing service .

Thank you for the thoughtful words.
