Stuck Windows on 2005 CCD

Can any give some tips on how to prevent the windows from sticking after trailer has been stored for several months? Our new airstream was not used for several months and is stored outside in the direct heat/sun. We had the dealership work on the windows in March and they were easier to open immediately afterwards. However, this summer after the trailer has been exposed to the hot summer heat and sun, it appears the glass has stuck to the rubber gaskets that surround the windows. We really struggled to get them open and finally succeeded. It takes a really strong man to get them unstuck. Has anyone else experienced this problem? We are afraid to put anything on the rubber for fear it will damage it. Any suggestions on tips would really be appreciated. Thanks

Somewhere on the forum, folks have talked about this...there is a coating that you can place on the rubber gaskets and it will minimize the issue you describe. I just can't think of what the stuff was....I want to say 404 or something like that, but don't quote me on it.

I use a gasket lubricant that I got at the swimming pool supply store for the gaskets on my Caravel. I think it is some kind of silicon dressing that is used on the "o" rings for the filter lids.

303 protector

We use 303 protector
http://www.303products.com/main.php
for all of our rubber and tires. So far it has done a very nice job.

We got our last batch at camping world.

I just make a point of occasionally spraying some silicone on a paper towel and wiping down the gaskets. We had sticking problems when the trailer was new and this pretty much takes care of things. Normally if time permits on a trip I will do this to all gaskets and will also spray silicone on the big gaskets that surround the slide out.

I agree with Jack, just pick up a can of silicone and use it for all your rubber gaskets. Spray or wipe it on. It'll keep them from drying out.

As others have said, rub with silicone, and don't forget to also do the rubber gaskets around your exhaust vents. My Fantastik fan refused to open once using power. I forced it open using the manual knob, rubbed silicone on the sticky parts, and it is now fine.

Unfortunately, probably have to repeat each season.

That's not a good idea....though it works, bad things will eventually happen if you continue that practice.

Silicone grease will not allow anything to stick to the rubber, and as a side benefit it will treat the seals so they maintain their supple characteristics.

I routinely use 303 protectant on all my seals, rear bumper, the propane compartment lid, and tires as well. It's great stuff for protecting them, and makes them look like new, but it only lasts so long before needing to be reapplied.

When I had trouble with my fantastic fan seals sticking, they sent me some new seals, plus some 303 protectant to put on them. However, the new seals stick just like the old ones did after the 303 wears off.
