Sorry Mr Rockwell for some of the testy replys you have received in your fist visits here.
I know that I too had a strong reaction to your comment about being stuck with inheriting this trailer. Maybe just an unfortunate choice of expression.

This is an enthusiasts site, filled with folks that really appreciate these trailers, and many that would love to get one for free.

Many here have had to do complete frame off restorations to make theirs into usable rigs.

So yours is a relatively easy one to make nice again.

Glad to hear that you have managed to start turning things aboard around. This should really help in moving it on to a new owner for its best value.
I would think that getting the door glass replaced would be worth your effort.

It is interesting that these larger trailers just don't hold their value as well as the small to mid sized ones do. Much smaller market for them, I guess.

All the best in getting it moved on.

Cheers Richard

The trailer was ready for travel, came with a Hensley hitch (upgraded feature), was clean (albeit dated) and everything worked. The trailer sold for $16k so I suspect your trailer would be valued no higher and likely lower.
I apologize - I made a mistake in my earlier post...

The trailer my friend sold was a 1988 and the price was $16k. That trailer was a "narrow" body. The trailer you are selling is a wide body and is obviously newer and may command a higher selling price.

Don't forget they have only been made from 88 to 2002, and there are a lot less of them around. I saw a 34 go on ebay a day or 2 ago for 10K. I paid 20K for my 93 2 years ago, but it was in great shape.

Thanks!

The Trailer sold today. I'd say it was a fair price and everyone walked away happy. Awesome!

Thanks to everyone who was positive, had advice, passed on good ideas, and acted with class. Your help is much appreciated. I will remember you all with fondness.

To the minority of negative know-it-all ass hats with no manners or empathy: Thanks for nothing. May a big old fat tom cat leave you a present on the driver's seat of your tow vehicle the next time you forget to roll up your window.

Norman R,

Glad you were able to get the information you needed to sell the trailer your wife had been stuck with by a death in the family. As you said in your last post "Your help is much appreciated". May I suggest you take some of your new found wealth and if you really "appreciated" the information this site has given you, make a donation of 10% of the selling price to the site as a "Thank You".

Anyone with manners and true thankfulness would be willing to do this unlike those that would show-up, ask for help, get what they need and leave, never to be seen again.

Just remember, they have "big old fat tom cats" where you live too.

Enjoy,

Good point. Give me an address, and I'll send some dough. It won't be 10 percent, but I'll show some appreciation.

These last 3 replies have been among my favorites. Great summary of experience - mostly positive, some tomcat worthy, a reminder to show gratitude, and an acknowledgement that it all makes sense!

I don't know if there's a mailing address for donations but here's the place to make online contributions ($20 annually as a member of the forums but you can donate whatever amount you like).

Thank you for taking the time to fill us in, NORMAN R, and happy for you that the sale worked out. Having helped settle family members' estates, I know what an emotional time it can be. The sale of your loved one's Airstream could have been a complicated and drawn-out process, but now it is over, and you can rest easy that you have done right by your loved one.

And the new owner is happy and ready to give that fine Rockwell Edition a new and vibrant life.

Well done!

Peter

Hi NORMAN R,

Good to hear that you sold the trailer. A big relief to you and your spouse.

There may be multiple means to contribute to Air Forums but one that comes to mind is to look on the web site, click on User CP, then scroll down and look on the left for Account Upgrades. From this page you can give Air Forums money via PayPal.

You can also contact an Air Forums moderator and they can likely provide a mailing address if that's more suitable to you.

Best wishes.

Real glad you were able to sell it! Sorry you had to meet some not so nice people here. Life is like that sometimes, just remember, it ain't about you, and smile.

I need to apologize to the group for being a putz and thinking folks would understand humor. I work with folks that call each other putz all the time, it seems to be a term of endearment in the construction and work industry. My apologizes for trying to be humorous.

Congrats on your sale!

Happy you were able to sell an unwanted item. Hope you got a fair price! Anyone should be able to ask a question here without fear of condemnation for not adhering to others beliefs. You did what was right for your family & I applaud you and I apologize for the rude comments you've received because you chose to sell something you didn't want. Nothing wrong with asking for advice unless you ask the wrong people!

I'm impressed on how this community of streamers comes together. Humor is hard to express verbally, let alone on paper or computer screens. Like beauty, humor is in the ear of the beholder. Members apologizing is unfortunately rare. My hats off to you NevadaGeo.

I came across this post while doing some research on jack points for 34's.

Funny enough, I now own this Norman Rockwell trailer!

My fiance and I found it on CL in Seattle last April and bought it for a very reasonable price from someone that had it on their construction site.
We had it towed down to Graeagle, California and totally remodeled it and now plan on touring the PNW with it after our wedding in June.

We both work in healthcare (ER nurse and ER tech) and have a comfortable relationship with death so not much phases us.

I'll try to attach a couple pics.
The inside is all finished and I'm almost done polishing the exterior to a mirror finish.

Not sure if Norman R ever visits here anymore, but if so let your wife's family know that we're taking good care of him!

Wow!

Got your email. Thanks for reaching out. That is so cool. We are so glad that someone with gumption restored it so nicely. We were the wrong people for that, and it was quite the mess. Congratulations to both of you for doing such a fine job. Amazing!

If you are so inclined, holler when you are in the Seattle area. We would love to come by and check it out.

Again, great job!
