2001 Slide out problem

Need some advice on my slideout operation. I am the second owner of this trailer and cant be sure how kind the PO was on the slideout. I cant be sure that the jacks were always down when it was out. That being said the slide seems to fit nicely when closed. Heres the issue. From a fully closed position when i push the switch to slide it out, trailer level and jacks down, the slide only moves about an inch or two. I have to depress the button again to get another inch or two. This will be repeated a few times before it begins to slide freely to the fully open position. Once open it slides closed without a problem. What should i check for? Should i remove the inspection panel under the coach and take a peek? and then what do i look for? Is there an overvoltage protection thingy thats shutting it off or would i see some obvious binding? Lubing somewhere? Now heres something scarey.. When looking through the closet i found some kind of threaded shaft about 1 1/2 foot long. Maybe for the front tongue and hopefully not something from the slide mechanism. Anybody have this complaint?

Thanks Vinnie

Under the sofa armrest there should be a slide controller. Sometimes the resistance setting has to be changed or decreased.

Oh, ok.. I actually had that out as i replaced the wall liner. I remember looking at that unit but didnt realize it has an adjustment to it. Is it just and screw to adjust the amperage to the motor? Should i just increase and see what happens?

Thanks Vinnie
