Aage the building is not long enough front to back(30 ft building and 31 ft trailer). It's plenty high. The hoe needs to be in the shop to be plugged in or it won't start and if I leave it where it is now I won't be able to plow myself out let alone clear the roads.

It's taking a lot longer than I thought. I have insulated the entire centre section between the frame rails and started on the roadside section outside of the rails. Today was the worst with the melting snow constantly dripping in my face as I measured and attached the styrofoam strapping. I finally gave up at 5:30PM when the next round of rain got too heavy.

I know it gets hot in an Airstream, in the summer, I have one without an A/C. I'm just saying not today!

Chris, cut a hole in the back of the garage and pull the trailer in with a winch. Make the hole just enough to clear the tounge. That way you can heat it for working. It's not so strange, thats how I get my 28' in for working.

WC, could you build a temp frame and enclose the door with plastic while you work on the AS? Or even a temp plywood door.

Doug and Chris the big problem is that I need the building for the backhoe during the winter for plowing. I spent some time today emptying the trailer guts into another building. Once I have everything out I can at least put the trailer in out of the rain and almost close the door to work on it. As long as I can get it watertight this year I wuill start on the interior next spring.

No, we all want you to take all the interior pieces out and put in the other building, then put the trailer inside, seal the door with tarp or whatever else you may choose. It was voted on and decided that you should put your backhoe in a new makeshift building you are to construct right away!

Ok, now get to work and send in more pics!

Wasagachris - My best guess is a warehouse area large enough for four trailers would be optimum to keep items & liners etc. arrayed in accessible heaps... Oh, and have the trailer under that same roof and I'd be deliriously happy.

Running out of storage is where my project stalled until I decided the entire interior was forfeit save for the sliding door bulkhead and some other bits. I bought a $1500 wrecked parts trailer to retain the option returning it to stock and cherry picking items better than on the project trailer.

Then came the $250 10' X 20' tent shelter ($850 as pictured) to have as a staging area to juggle parts through and store on liner panels, etc. in. If anyone goes toward an instant shelter like this one spend more upfront, they are kinda like Airstreams...

Oh - and don't give up the plow space for nothing. Thats one tool in its proper place!

I absolutely love how much fun everybody is having with this issue.

If you all want to see me continue through the winter I suggest you hitch up your trailers and head on up here and pitch in. Many hands make light work. I`ve got plenty of campsites available.

Wabbiteer I have one of those shelters but I doubt it would stand up to the snow load here. Even the metal garden sheds can`t take the weight. I`ve had at least three campers loose their sheds because they buckled under the snow. A few have had their decks collapse as well.
I agree that a warehouse big enough to hold 4 trailers would be fantastic. However there is nothing that large around here and how much can it cost to rent.
Here is a few pictures to show you what I mean.

Now I remember, the only thing I like about winter is the snow (HATE the cold) I can honsetly say I'll be spending the winter waiting for spring, as I haven't gotten out with the AS yet. I hope to get in at least a weekend trip in early Nov. maybe Maryland or upper Virginia. MPJ

Near as I can see, it's 3 to 2 (counting your vote) for moving the plow and modifying your building to house the airstream so you can work on it. I mean really, if the plow doesn't start, then you're simply stuck at home with more time to devote to your trailer. What's the probrlem here???

Since I didn`t hear from any volunteers.

I have emptied the shop of the insides of the trailer into the rec center. The trailer is now inside high and dry. The back bumper is right against the back wall with a piece of cardboard to protect the bumper. As you can see form the pics almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

When I first moved here 5 yrs ago I tried to fit it in and I thought that the door would close if I cut away a section of the brace on the inside. Well either the building shrunk or the trailer grew (maybe I was wrong in the first place

) because it just won`t fit.
Anyway it`s a good thing I haven`t burned the old floor yet because it came in handy. This will keep out the cold and rain as well as the 2 adopted cats I have living here. Everytime I turn around one of them is trying to get into one building or the other. 2yrs ago I accidently trapped another stray in the rec center for a week. He got in as I was storing things away for the winter and it wasn`t till a week later that I heard him calling to get out.
Anyway once the trailer dries out I can start the final foil insulation around the shell between the shell and the main frame rails. Then finally the belly goes on. Baby steps,baby steps.

Aw man - that is sooooo dang close!!! Kinda late now, but if you took the rear bumper off the frame, would you gain the 1 1/2" it looks like you needed? Anyway, now I'm really jealous that you have a spot you can continue to work on her. I'm sitting here waiting til spring... But we need to buy things to continue on her now, and money is a tad tight with other stuff we have going on. House project will keep me busy over the winter. Starting with cleaning up my shop this afternoon so I can work on other projects.

Mc I thought of that but no. Anyway I need the bumper on for the belly pan install. It attaches to the bottom of the bumper just inside the bottom lip of the bumper. That`s what forms the stinky hose compartment.

Well you sure have got me jealous now, Chris! I mean, I don't even have a garage here, and there's you with your TV AND your TT inside and all snug and warm for the winter while you work on the trailer.

I think we have just had our expectations raised a notch or two for seeing a beeYOOteeful interior all done come spring!

First of all I need to catch up on afew posts.
MPJ thanks for the praise.
Aage don`t get your hopes up the trailer comes back out as soon as the belly is on and the shell is watertight. Then the backhoe goes in for the winter.
Well it took a while but all of the road(street, port, left) side of the trailer is insulated. I also got half of the curbside done. I should finish the other half tomorrow. The insulation installs easily but taping and sealing takes forever. There are so many seams and edges around each outrigger to seal.
Then I will begin cutting the belly pan. I will need 3 pieces. The first goes from the fresh water tank forward, the 2nd is between the A frame and is mounted directly to the floor to make space for the spare tire. The last piece and the longest goes from the back of the fresh water tank to the bumper. We plan to install the belly this weekend.
