2000 Excella

We picked up our "new to us" 2000 Excella last weekend and took it straight to the Vintage rally in the smokies. We love it!!! We have never had one this new. We really enjoyed restoring the older ones we had, but the newer ones are really nice, and you dont have to spend a lot of time fixing them, so you can just enjoy camping! I've been trying to attach some pictures, but to no avail , so here I go again. We havent got to bring her home yet, we need a reciever for our truck. Picking it up tomorrow, then off to camp a few more days before we tow her home.

What truck is needed for 30' excella?

I am totally new to Airstreams. Picked up mine 30 +/- excella trading in a 43' Allegro Bus in Portland Or and drove it via Rapid City SD to northern Fl. I have traded in the 250 Ford extended cab and bed for a 150 crew cab short bed with tow package and I'm concerned if it will be enough. I'm gutting the interior of the trailer eliminating excess oak wood weight refabed of prior owner. Do I have a big enough truck?

We had a 2000 Excella, but somebody wanted it more than we, so I sold it. Bought a 2001, and love it also....

Another subject, but, I couldn't help noticing your awning in the picture. Is there a special reason you don't have the end supports on the roller axles? Just wondering....

We have a 1989 31' Excella and it tows well with an F-250 w/6.2 gas engine. The trailer's loaded weight is 7550 lbs. I think this would be doable with an F-150, but you would feel it. Our F-250 is rated to tow12,000lbs, but it would struggle greatly though hilly terrain. I think the max real life towing capability for our truck would be no more than 10,000lbs. Just our opinion/experience, hope this helps... Good luck and safe travels!!

Updated the thermostat last week, the Original 4 button ( had issues with the temp buttons not working ) is obsolete and changes to a dual zone 5 button and requires a updated mother board. Not to bad to do except it kept pooring rain on me. When I was on the roof, changing over the board, basically plug and play, just had to mount an extra temp sensor on the Evaporator coil ,included in the Update Kit.Click image for larger version
