How to access under the shower?
1998 Safari (entry level) base model. Standard layout.
Can see water stain coming from under the shower - denoted by the red arrow (enlarge image as red arrow is hard to see). I'd like to gain access to underneath the shower pan - area of interest denoted by yellow arrows. How the heck do I access this? I am not opposed to pulling out the shower, walls, bathroom components, etc. As you may be able to tell, I am already reworking the rear area due to standard leaks and soft spots. I have removed the sliding door in the picture.
Anyone know how to get under the shower so I can try to locate the source?
I'd rather not do a full demo to the bathroom - don't mind modifying but would prefer to remove and reinstall only what is needed, if possible, at least, initially.
Thank you in advance for your wisdom and shared experience.

There may be access from the belly pan. By the axel there is an approximate 8" by 8" piece of belly pan that might be under it, never removed it.

Cut a Access panel
I know that the first post was back in Jan 24 but this also maybe helpful to others that catch this thread later and have the same problem.
When I use to work at an Airstream dealership and would have a problem of access to anywhere we would call Airstream and they would say you have to cut an access panel. In later years Airstream did better job of putting access panels APs where there might be a need. I have cut a many APs right at the foot of the shower pan in front of the toilet. The problem with dropping any tank is hooking the vent pipe back up. You may need to cut a access panel for that. The trick is, making a cover for that access hole that looks like it was make that way from the factory.

On my 1987 I needed access under the shower. I cut an access in the panel next to the shower and put in a plywood cover stained to match with screws so I can get in there again if I need to. The good news was that the leak was not from the shower pan but from a piece of pex that runs through that area,

Thank you everyone!
Thank you for the replies. I looked and did not see an 8x8 access panel underneath, so, may be looking at cutting an access panel, which is fine.
I am actually considering making a new "frame/housing" for the shower stall and adding an access panel in doing so, but the rear wall is somehow fixed to the side wall. I was able to pull the corner trim out and I located a few screws and it is loose, minus the "rear" connection - ie the rounded side facing the bedroom area is still connected to the side wall somehow.
Do you all know where I might find the attaching screws for these walls (the rear and side which enclose the shower stall specifically?
sincerely,
David M

We have a 25ft 2009 Classic. I cut a hole under the shower (see photo). I didn’t know where to cut the gray water pan to access the shower drain. I was able to change out the shower drain by this access. I then stained a board of Luke wood and installed it over the hole.

Different Airstream, similar problems. A couple of thoughts that might help: seeing similar issues, I found that Airstream neglected to seal between the shower door aluminum frame and the shower enclosure on my 06 Safari. Sealing that was easy and fixed the problem. Seeing some what looked like water damaged trim, I found the problem by turning on the shower and watching the water puddle under the laminate flooring the PO put in.
Earlier I had what turned out to be a leaking P trap under the shower. Removing a nearby heater vent provided access to tighten the fittings.
My current problem: the black tank spray nozzle is clogged, and of course it’s located under the shower pan. I don’t like the “cutting an access panel” as I do not have those skills or tools. I love the way Airstream designs for maintainability.
It could have been so simple and cost nothing.

Hi, I have an 08 Safari Sport and on our first camping trip there was water leaking on the ground after the shower was used. A quick caulk job between the two shower panels fixed the problem. Wish everything was that simple! Good luck with finding the problem.
