Battery switch to AGM

I have two factory installed solar panels and controller with two deep cycle wet cell batteries. What, if any, controler change is needed when switching to AGM Batteries? Would damage occur if the AGM batteries were installed for several weeks without making a controller change? Is the switch to AGM batteries really longer lasting electric supply?

Short answer: get rid of the stock controller, it is not good for your batteries. Look at Victron equipment. AGM's are much better than flooded and should have come with your factory solar package. You still need to take care of them, do not discharge below 50% or about 12.2v resting.

We switched to two Lifeline AGM grp27's in 2007.
At the same time installed an IOTA 55a DLS IQ4. They were retired last year when we switched to Lithium batt's and Boondocker Lithium compatible converter.
The Lifelines are still doing basement duty as backup power for our sump pump.👍
