2002 Classic 30 with slide out - Value?

We have found a 2002 Classic 30 Ft. with slide out and it's in decent condition, that is the condition you'd expect from a trailer 16 years old that's lived outside all of it's life.

Other than tires needing to be replaced there appears to be no repairs needed but the trailer hasn't been used in about two years.

What would you suggest that this trailer is worth?
Located in Virginia.

2002 30' Classic S/O - Value

"Value" is subjective based upon multiple factors. Appearance, operation, demand, time of the year and desire are a few examples.

Anyhow a quick check around found a 02 30' S/O in Texas at a Dealer asking 37.5k. Dealer asking the most to keep their business going... Reality check using nada guides to get the low ball side of things. They say 22.5k low retail and 27.1k average retail.

Take your high of 37.5 with a low of 22.5 and you've got your sliding scale of variables. Something towards that 27ish maybe about right. YMMV

Good luck on the quest! I hope it works out for you.

I did look in NADA and saw the high retail to be 27.1K as this trailer has nothing added to the basic options list. Because of it's condition I thought 27K would be a fair price with say 30K being the max.

I'll bet the dealer in Texas didn't pay over 27K for the one they have for sale but I'm sure they will guarantee all of the systems where a private party purchase guarantee is typically "as-is where-is".

I'm a little concerned about your assumption. A dealer purchased a trailer for $27,000, and you think you should pay them $27,000? I understand wanting to pay as little as possible for an item, but if a dealer can't make a profit, they won't be able to stay in business very long.

As for NADA book prices, they are so far off as far as Airstream trailer pricing as to be essentially useless.

That wasn't what I said I thought the max price should be - I said 30K if you're buying from an individual with no guarantee.

So did you buy it? I’m sort of looking but want to walk in one to get a good feel. I’ll start really looking next year.

I would think $27K from a private individual might be a little high, depending on condition. I don't know what you expect for a "16 year old trailer that has lived outside most of its life". Two years ago I bought a 2002 Classic 30 slideout from an Airstream dealer for $34,300. I'm the third owner. The second owner had owned it only about a year and I don't think he used it at all but he did do some upgrades. The sofa and dinette were recovered in leather and the floor replaced in the living area and bedroom. It had a rooftop satellite dish installed by the original owners. A new 1200/12,000 Equalizer was included in the purchase. Other than things I found at pickup, there was no warranty. They re-glued the slideout seal (but I had to do it again with the proper adhesive) and changed a few bulbs.

Since then I have changed the axles, added disc brakes, replaced the satellite dish and all of the storage bin door gaskets. On my recent trip a battery failed and I replaced them both. I'll be changing the converter soon.

Hi Al,

Yes, I agree with your estimate of a reasonable price from a private individual primarily because the systems wouldn't have been dealer checked nor is there any kind of warranty. The final price hasn't been settled yet but I think it's going to be $34,000.
