Hi folks, I have been reading a bit here on the forum, and have seen some articles on sewer hose storage. Mine does not have a storage tube under the trailer and I was just wondering if this was standard on a 2004 Safari?

Since I don't have one can this be installed? or where do you keep your sewer hose if you don't have a storage tube?

I have an '06 and mine came with one of the storage tubes. It didn't take long before I knew that I needed to carry a second hose to act as an extension for those times when the connection was a little too far away.

I just went to the dealer and had them install one that matched the original. Some folks make their own out of PVC pipe but I didn't want to have two different ones side by side. I believe they just screwed them to the belly pan. It didn't take long, the labor charge was minimal.

So, I think I will look into getting PVC pipe and paint it the same color as the underbelly, I'll probably secure the ends with bolts through the cap and pipe. I will need to find out where and what to secure it to the underbelly.

Go to your local home improvement store and look in the plumbing department. I know you can get 4 inch PVC pipe that you can cut to length, weld on a cap at one end and a threaded cap at the other. I also believe that there are pipe straps that are designed for securing this stuff down.

Do a search and you should find all sorts of information about doing this. I remember reading about and seeing pictures of these projects.

Using those search resources, I found a sewer storage project utilizing SQUARE PLASTIC FENCE POSTS. (one with a neat slide out tray utilizing plastic gutter) Advantages were: Able to load Rhino hose with ends attached, sewer gas trap thingy and valterra adapter in the tray and not lose anything. Tray might be used as a ramp for a long sewer run...

Easy project with minimum tools and expertise required. Heck, I did it! all materials available at the local big box hardware or maybe the farm co-op. here is one.
