We just picked-up our new 2004 Safari LS. My first question is when you unhook the TT do you put down the jacks on each corner when the TT will sit for a period of time?

I did, but I took them back up since as it gets colder, the tire pressure falls and more weight would sit on the jacks and thats not a good idea. If I go into the unit for any extended period of time, I will crank them back down.

Also, I just thought of this too, if you keep the coach out and park it in the fall and as it gets colder the tires constrict a bit and you also get a good snow storm....if the jacks are cranked out the added weight of the snow also with the combo of the cold's effect on the tires could lead to more wieght being placed on the jacks that what is suppose to be there....IMHO....

Also, if you plan on keeping your unit plugged into AC for an extened period of time, don't forget to check your batteries for electrolite (every couple of months). The charging system will boil it out over time. It happend to us.

Good point....I do keep mine plugged in all winter....so that it keeps the batteries from freezing (sort of lazy to pull them and store them).

I thought only the old univolts did that, but it looks like even the new ones do as well!

I think it only matters if you winterize your trailer for storage.

If you winterize it, it probably wouldn't hurt to take out the batteries and store them in the garage on a shelf (not on the cement as this will surly dischage them).

We do not winterize our trailer because we like to camp year round. Therefore we keep the trailer plugged in and ready to go.

I take the battery out for the winter - keep it in my heated garage so I can keep an eye on it - I recharge/top off a few times over the winter.
