There are some differences. Tell him it's a 2010 Sprinter 3500 cargo van with high roof.

Model year may make a difference.
3500/2500 may make a difference.
cargo van/passenger van may make a difference.
High roof/low roof DEFINITELY makes a difference.

Glass repair!

If it's just a chip - even with outward crack of up to six inches, have the windshield repaired not replaced. About $50 to $100 ... and stay away from Safelite, they'll tell you it needs to be replaced 99% of the time!

You'll pay a deductible to have new glass put in, but almost all insurances will pick up the whole cost of a repair. I had one done on the old Chevy - and it held up fine. Didn't even pop out when it wrecked.

Just do a google search or go antique and use the phone book under windshield repair. There are dozens of little shops that do this work.

Most jurisdictions don't allow tinted windshields, except along the top edge. For that, specify "third visor" to get the dot-matrix look tinting that comes farther down by the rearview mirror than it does on each side.

I have had good luck with chip repairs on my car. Properly done they are virtually invisible. Around here most auto glass repair shops will come to you to make the repairs and they are almost always fully covered by insurance. My insurer insists on a replacement after the third chip repair.

A lot of insurance companies will cover the cost of a chip repair at no cost to you.
