White Top Shelf for 2023 I19 Recommendations

Looking for a nice and reasonably priced shelf for our new I19.

Came across the White Top: https://www.whitetopadventures.com/c...ner-shelf-2019

Looking for feedback from those who might have this setup.

I’ll let you know soon. Mine is in transit. First one arrived defective plus minor damage. The one in transit is a replacement.

We installed a White Top Adventure in our 2021 AI-19 today. The install was easy but did take two of us, one to hold in place while the other installed the attachment screws. The fit is perfect. The shelf is well made and a great color match. This could easily be mistaken as a Mercedes or Airstream part. It came with a light colored felt on top. The light color is great because if it were dark the space would be a dark hole. All aspects of the engineering are right on. Customer service was fantastic. The first shelf we ordered had a defect and minor shipping damage. We notified WTA and received an almost immediate response and a return label. We ordered a second one and it arrived in perfect condition. We will use the storage space for things like pillows and other soft, light weight items that normally take up lots of room. The cabin window blackouts in the storage bag will fit on the shelf. Coats, etc could easily be placed in this new storage area. A little bit of headroom in the cab area is lost but actually not real noticeable. Small compromise for the additional storage area. Hope this info helps.

Great! Did you attach the brackets on the inside or outside?

Also, did you have to attach the felt?

Remove screws > slip brackets behind trim > replace screws. Came with felt installed.

I meant did you sit the shelf on the brackets or put the aft tabs on the top side?

Steve told me it would ship without the felt attached. Will see how mine arrives.

Install the supports first. Replace the removed screws but don't tighten them down hard - allow the brackets to move a bit for final adjustment. Then put the shelf up against the the tabs and install the mounting screws. The nuts will be on the top side with the tabs. Have someone help you because it would be very difficult to hold the shelf up in place and install the screws. You may need a short step stool to reach the forward drivers side corner. Don't tighten the screws until you have everything in place the way you want it.

We have a 2023 AI 19 and we installed the White Top shelf with only a little struggle, as we are both short and you need long arms and two people to install the front left screws. We ordered the unit with the front wrap around curtain, and find it very convenient to use, we keep it stored twisted and tied to the left outer headrest support, and tucked behind the drivers seat and it does not move when driving as it is wedged in with the front reflector shade and the lagun table top. The curtain provides some insulation from heat or cold. The felt/carpet was already installed on it when it arrived. There is a slight light leak on the right side by the seat belt ring if you are stealth camping, I found that if I put the last curtain hook in the second to last pocket, the curtain naturally folds back to block the light leak, and I sewed a short piece of two sided Velcro to secure the curtain to the grab handle so there is no light leak at all. The unit is very sturdy, and looks like it is part of the Airstream build, not an aftermarket add-on

Did you sit the shelf on the brackets or put the bracket tabs on the top of the shelf for a cleaner look?

I am thinking of leaving the forward tabs on the bottom and the rear tabs on top since the forward tabs are in the slot and not as obvious.

Hi. We did exactly as you stated. The shelf sits on top of the forward tabs for ease of installation and under the rear tabs so they do not show at the back edge of the shelf.

Great to hear. Assume it looks good that way?

Also think it helps with loading.

Hi thanks for post.. would be great to see how this looks in your AI19 or AI24 We ordered curtain to see how to make a soft option to install but maybe shelf and curtain track is the answer. Saw the owl set up but rugged for us,

Was intrigued to hear how shelf looks original /matching to AI interior

Hi so went ahead and installed this yesterday.

The TV in the AI GL just clears the shelf, the bar for the curtain and the door to access components. I will need to install new spacer, mount to either shift tv forward 1/4 inch or further down. With the shelf mounted, the tv is slightly tilted up.
I’ll post pics later to show tilt. For us, the shelf helps for our storage holds 3 king pillows and a heavy blanket.
It’s biggest win for us is the curtain and ease to black out rear/ when camping with not relying on the original Airstream side Window covers and windshield cover.

The jury is still out

White top Shelf install AI 24GL w/ tv

Okay last update on shelf install and tv adjustment or addition.
1. Used an overhead mount to shift the TV from the flip down to a ceiling post mount deopdown from the shelf. Amazon

Mounted and drilled four holes through shelf with 1 inch washer to displace weight.

Upgraded from 24 inch tv to 27 inch t. I had laying around. I think best case is smart tv to eliminate the Appletv
