When Airstream's specs are wrong!

When Airstream's specs are wrong on the overall height of the AI19 AWD after they change the AC unit and forget to update the spec. Luckily, I have a saw. The actual height is 9'10 1/2", Not 9'9"

Totally agree...here is their out listed on every brochure they release, which really puts the onus on the dealer to communicate to the would be customer, more or less- of course assuming the factory let the dealers know....

Product information, specifications, and photography in this brochure were as accurate as possible at time of printing. Photographs may contain some features that are optional on your vehicle.
Since we continually strive to improve our products, actual products may differ. Prices and specifications are subject to change without notice. All capacities are approximate and dimensions are nominal. Some features or options may be different or unavailable in other countries.
Warning – This information is intended as a guide only. Weights of individual vehicles may vary. Consult your owner’s manual for complete loading, weighing, and towing instructions. Do not overload the travel trailer.

Water check ensures the shell is watertight

I bet you're glad that you had a dealer drive one over to check the clearance before you ordered/bought one!

Hi

Tire pressure changes with temperature. Springs sag / rise a bit with loading. The angle you go into the garage may or may not be "dead flat". There are lots of variables. All of them get into the mix in terms of clearance.

Simple answer: You want a lot more "air space" than an inch or two ....

I can definitely empathize! My short term and longer term solution below. (granted, I knew clearance was going to be a problem from the start)

I don't see any major problems with the above posts, but be cautious if you're considering cutting into a door header. You could have a catastrophe sometime in the future.

Very elegant. I like the top pic.
Of course, the OP didn't say if he was going to cut the garage door larger or the AS shorter!

While the OP didn't say, he did post a picture of himself (well someone) cutting the door opening higher.

BTW, there is a backup plan. A new AC unit. Advanced RV out of Cleveland and do a low profile retrofit. the BAM BAM YouTube channel also did one. I'd like to find out why AS changed their AC to this unit.

On my 2016 GT the new Houghton only dropped 1 in overall height after installing the DIY Van cnc plate (it is about 1 thick). Not sure if ARV uses the cnc plate.

Very nicely done! Amazing how much dead space that arch consumed!

More than likely Airstream switched to installing Coleman-Mach air conditioners because they are both Thor owned companies.
