In the ensuing twenty-one years since 1998, I've had 13 motorhomes/trailers with black tanks with manual gravity dump systems. I've never had one fail to dump or to empty fully, and I had to replace one manual dump valve because the housing broke; likely from something smacking it.
KISS. Comparing those twenty-one years' experience just with the experiences of the past year or two with members here with macerator pump systems, I don't know how much more "charmed" you can ask of a sewage dump system.
Quite frankly, my '04 AI has a gravity, solenoid-actuated dump valve that still works, but I'm quite sure EVERY time I dump it that the last time was it's last. So far, so good though.
