Water pump strainer basket

I have a 2016 Grand Tour with the water pump located under the huge and useless freezer. How in the heck do you get in there to remove and clean the starsiner basket? I have tried and tried as instructed by the manual to squeeze those little tabs and lift it out to no avail. There just isn't enough room to work in. Has anyone succeeded in its removal, cleaning and reinstalling?

On mine, there is an access panel that can be pulled off. The panel has two latches similar to the drawers. Just pull on it in a straight pull. The strainer screen is easily accessible. Just pull it out from the top and clean it. Intall, and test for leaks.

Thanks for the pics. I may have to detach it at the blue pull to get at the screen release area. I guess I have fat hands and can't get in there. This van with all of it's bells and whistles has been a long learning curve for me but I'm slowly getting it.
