Victron Multiplus II install locations

Hello,

I am looking at installing a Victron Multiplus II in a 2018 AI Lounge.

Has anyone out there done this? If so were did you mount the unit?

Also when installing the Lithium batteries, did you leave them outside under the coach in the AGM mounts or move inside?

thx

Hi

At least as I read the write up's on the Multi Plus II its main claim to fame is a 50A / 230V transfer switch. They *seem* to be saying that a 30A application would do better to use the Multi Plus.

Am I missing something?

The "stock" AS approach on the 2021's seems to have been to install lithiums outside and set them up with heater pads.

Victron released the 230volt verison first. They now have a 50amp/120volt version. It also works with 30amp shore power.

Lachness,

You would do far better with the MultiPlus 1, not the MultiPlus 2. The 2 is made specifically for 50 amp use, not the 30 amps that you have in an Interstate. I have installed over 50 units into the Interstates, and the Multiplus 2 would not only be a waste, but again, it is specifically designed for 50 amp use.

I have been dealing with Battle Born for weeks....
I too ordered the Victron only to find out it will not run a 50 amp trailer
Only 30 amp or 1/2 of 50 amp trailer.
As per Eric at BB I refused the shipment and it was and returned to BB and received on 05/21... Still trying to get a refund.
They do not answer their phone or return any call.
They may have something out in October if they can get the parts in.
I went with Xantrax.

Hi

I get my Victron gear from Peter Kennedy Yacht Systems:

https://shop.pkys.com

His prices are inline with the rest of the internet and he's always answered the phone when I've called. He also has a very normal store you can drop into and pick things up at. It's a bit of a drive for me so mostly I have things delivered.

I purchased the Xantrex Freedom XC Pro 3000 watt inverter/charge. I would suggest also Freedom Bluetooth Remote. Along with a long list of other stuff needed...

Hi

The factory seems to be headed towards the Freedom XC 2000. Not much info out there on it's static / parasitic current drain ....

Lachness,

We upgraded our 2017 GT to go off grid. Our style of camping. We installed 400 Amp Hours of BattleBorns and 400W Solar on top. Victron Multiplus is our inverter.

With lithium you want to install in the cabin if you are in colder climates. We live in Colorado. Please see out installation pics to see how we did it. Lots of space left for our gear.

Very happy with the results. Our only limitations being off grid is our tank capacity. We no longer worry about power consumption. We run a toaster oven, TV's, Devices, radio, Coffee maker and lights. No issues at all. We are lucky that most of our time is up in the mountains so no need for AC.

Hi

Nice !!

The only thing I might change there is to add some sort of protection over the +12 lugs on the batteries. They look like they are out in the open in the second picture .....
