It’s an interesting comment on resale value that a 12yr old unit on a 13yr old chassis with close to 200,000 miles valued as roughly 1/2 of its purchase cost.

I find that interesting as well. Fifty percent is far better than most cars and light trucks on the road today. The brand new value at what $90,000 and market estimated value at $45,000.

Look at any luxury car or light trucks that had a $80,000 to $90,000 sticker back in 2005 or 2006. Most of those vehicles with mileage that are knocking on the door of 200K miles can be had for $10,000 or less today.

Maggie, glad you resolved it to your satisfaction. Now the hunt begins. Sure would like to have the guts out of your old one. I like those cabinets.

Maggie,
We are so glad that you and Lily are OK and that now this chapter has come to a close. We are looking forward to the next chapter where you find the perfect replacement Interstate and get back on the road, if indeed that is what you decide to do. Good luck in your search for what you decide you want!

My one question, reiterated from above:

Will we be able to track the eventual auction buyer? This right here (this forum) is his/her market for profitably parting it out. Will your insurance company pass that information along to you, so that you can tell us?

I don’t know.

I know where it is currently, a salvage/auction lot, and they may be the best source for this information...

https://www.copart.com/locations/altoona-pa-129/

Stock #35603058

I don’t know why they would move it.

I emptied the Interstate of everything not nailed down, knowing it couldn’t be locked and not knowing at the time that it would be totaled....I have the privacy curtains for windshield and cargo door, screen for the back doors area, windshield cover, the tv, etc., so none of those things are in there.

Depending on what I next get into, I may be able to use these, and if not I will place an ad here.

Glad you got to resolution with the Insurance company. As you mentioned you might have been able to get a little more money... But for me I value getting things done and moving on. I would/have traded dollars for time/peace of mind.

Looking forward to seeing what you choose and customize in the future. Hope it is another AI because I have really enjoyed your contributions and knowledge sharing here.

Thanks. It's not listed on that site yet that I could find, but I'll keep watching.

Thank you.

I am hoping to get another Interstate, of similar vintage to mine, layout not so important.

If it’s meant to be, it will happen.

Should it be moved, I don’t know why they wouldn’t tell you where it has gone.

State Farm doesn’t have the title yet, so I doubt it would be listed until that happens.

Ok, it is now time for the forum equivalent of an Amish barn raising. Everyone needs to check local RV dealers, back yards, newspaper ads, craigslist, bulletin boards, campgrounds, storage lots, etc. for nice Interstates that may be for sale so we can get Maggie back on the road.

Ms. Maggie, what year, configuration and color do you favor? Will you take a later model? What is your top spending limit?

How soon will you be ready to move on a good find?

You’re sweet, Paula, and I am already getting links from others, which is greatly appreciated.

I haven’t researched features in newer models, but prefer simpler to the all electronic whiz bangs. If I could find an 06 or 07 in good condition, I would be delighted.

Layout and color isn’t important at this point, and I would consider anything.

I can move pretty quickly, am going to get a line of credit set up Monday in case I want to spend more than I will be getting from insurance.

One of the newer ones before all the emission equipment was installed in them, would be perfect... you get the additional mpg benefit and you get a newer unit.

Do not know enough of what year range those were... but someone here will sure chime in.

I think, in the interest of keeping this thread consistent with its purpose, I’m going to start another one.

Maggie's original Interstate has now been posted on the salvage site.

My first thought was, "Wow - that impact must have been deafening."

A question about the fold down table at the door

Hi Maggie,

I looked at the pictures of your Interstate on the auction site - Wow! So thankful that you and Lily were not injured badly.

I was wondering if you installed the fold down table by the sliding door or if it came with the Interstate?

Mine doesn't have that, but i like the idea.

Thanks,
Katy
