Teak Shower Mat

Hi all, I recall reading a post about teak shower mats for around $350. I just received mine from Teakworks4u for $194 delivered. They said they require a template for each order which seems to me like a waste of time. If someone wants my template which they returned to me you can have it for a buck postage. I'm not too computer savy but hopefully these pics will come thru.

BTW, they also have a cheaper version in what they call "Plantation Teak" which is from younger trees. The cost is about 30 bucks less.

I just found the pic of the $350 mat. It is under the post: "interstate mods". It is file 4038168687.jpg. That mat is very amaturish looking compared to the ones from teakworks4u which are 156 bucks cheaper.

I bought a shower mat from them for my trailer last year and it's awesome. Looks just as good a year later. You do tend to forget to lift it up and clean underneath....it gets pretty yucky on that fiberglass, but at least you aren't standing in dirty water.

That is super-cool looking. I think one of those would work nicely in our Caravel.

wow, great options for wet baths. You could also make these out of Ipe. Wonder if they would look good made out of Azek - it's plastic lumber.

Great idea! I have some left over Trex decking that might look good.
Thanks,
Wayne

Someone already beat us to the template. I'm going to see if we can get the company to make mine as the same time as the member who is getting the template. If you'd like to PM me your info, I'll make sure to notify you once they are ready to make the others.

That would be a nice perk, but more then that I'm hoping it just makes it easy for anyone else wanting one without having to wait for the template to be mailed around or have to do one themselves.

For my '58 Flying Cloud I used teak planks from IKEA. You could always cut the corners to fit odd shaped tubs.

After I did a shower cabinet at home in Toronto with the IKEA tiles I realized that I shudda/cudaa done my ARGOSY the same way.

Looks very cool and has stood up very well after a year of daily use....

The wood is acacia from Vietnam and the tiles are very easily cut to shape.

Another big advantage is cost; $ 40 as opposed to the $200 or $350 being quoted here!

Truthfully, folks......these are quite lovely but for us beg the question....why would you want to cover the floor of the shower with something that is going to capture moisture, soap, hair, skin cells and other assorted, nefarious debris that will then congeal, adhere, mold, smell, etc., etc.?

Isn't it simpler and more sanitary to just clean up the floor and allow it to air dry after your shower?

Just sayin'.

I agree also

I have one but have NEVER showered with it.

It stays clean, always looks new, and smells great!

In response to Doug&Maggie, 73shark & Teamaron, we don't plan to use the AI shower as we primarily stay at campgrounds and rv parks and we're in the habit of donning our flip flops and heading to the park showers. Our concern was stepping into a fiberglass shower with street shoes on and scratching up the floor. With the teak mat, that is not a concern as it can easily be cleaned or refinished.
